• The Ploegsteert Memorial - The Ploegsteert Memorial honors 11,347 servicemen from the United Kingdom and South African forces who lost their lives in this area during the First World War.
• Christmas Truce Memorial - In the fields near the village, one of history’s most unexpected sporting events occurred over Christmas 1914. Exhausted troops from both sides declared an unofficial ceasefire, sang carols, and ventured into No Man’s Land to exchange alcohol, tobacco, and food. It is said that commanding officers on both sides were not pleased. On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, a series of spontaneous football matches took place along the 500-mile frontline, with the most famous at Plugstreet, where the British included kilted soldiers from the Argyle Highlanders, facing Germany’s 133rd Saxon Regiment.
• Island of Ireland Peace Park - In the Irish Peace Park in Mesen, a round tower stands as a tribute to Irishmen of all faiths who perished during the First World War.
• Bayernwald - This distinctive German site is situated between the villages of Wijtschate and Voormezele near Ypres. Bayernwald was Germany’s response to alleged British tunneling efforts nearby.
• Hill 60 - Hill 60’s lunar landscape is an authentic remnant from the Great War. The man-made hill, created in 1850, rises about 60 meters above sea level, hence its name. During the war, this site witnessed intense battles and frequently changed hands. Both sides engaged in underground warfare, leading to the detonation of numerous mines from 1915 onwards.

• Battle of Polygon Wood - The Battle of Polygon Wood occurred from 26 September to 3 October 1917, during the second phase of the Third Battle of Ypres in the First World War. The battle took place near Ypres in Belgium, from the Menin road to Polygon Wood and further north, beyond St Julien.
• Tyne Cot Cemetery - Tyne Cot Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery and Memorial to the Missing is a burial ground managed by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) for World War I casualties in the Ypres Salient on the Western Front. • Essex Farm Cemetery - Site John McCrae is a World War I memorial site near Ypres, Belgium. It is named after Canadian physician Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872–1918), who authored the famous poem “In Flanders Fields” while serving at this site in 1915.
