- Galle Fort - The Portuguese built the Galle Fort on Sri Lanka’s southwest coast in the 16th century. The Dutch took over and fortified it in the 17th century. For nearly 200 years, the historic town of Galle has been a trading hub for spices and other goods. Strolling through the winding streets of Galle Fort, visitors can admire the beautiful architecture, museums, historic buildings, and numerous stories.
- Lighthouse Street - Home to Sri Lanka’s oldest lighthouse, originally built in 1848 by the British. The lighthouse stands 24.5 meters tall, offering a panoramic view of Galle Harbour. The original lighthouse was destroyed by fire in 1934, and a new one was constructed in 1939, standing 26.5 meters tall and located about 100 meters from the original site. The light station is within the old Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is maintained by the Sri Lankan Port Authority.

The light station is within the ancient Galle Fort walls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a popular tourist attraction, making it the country’s most frequently visited lighthouse. - Galle Fort Clock Tower - The Galle Clock Tower is a four-story stone monument from the late 19th century. It was constructed within the Galle Fort ramparts on the site of the former guardroom, overlooking one of the fort’s three bastions.
