Gangaramaya (Vihara) Buddhist Temple - The Gangaramaya Temple in Colombo is one of the most affluent and renowned temples in Sri Lanka. Established over 120 years ago, it is dedicated to Buddhism and is a popular attraction among tourists. The temple is celebrated for its opulent architecture and statues that reflect Sri Lankan, Chinese, Thai, Burmese, and various other artistic styles.

Beira Lake - Beira Lake is a prominent landmark in Colombo, located in the heart of the capital and surrounded by numerous large businesses. It offers a rare spot of relaxation and beauty within the city limits. The area around the lake boasts many attractions, and the lake itself has a rich history, retaining its Portuguese name. It is linked to a network of canals that facilitated the transport of goods within the city and its suburbs.

Old Parliament Building - This Neo-Baroque-style building was constructed during the British colonial period to house the Legislative Council of Ceylon. Inspired by Sir Henry McCallum, a proposal was made by a committee to build the new structure for the Secretariat, Council Chamber, and Government offices on reclaimed land at the northern end of Galle Face, which was approved by the Government in 1920.

Pettah - Pettah is a bazaar with a distinct Middle Eastern flair, showcasing Sri Lanka’s multiculturalism at its best. As one of the oldest districts in Colombo, it is a fascinating place to explore for a few hours. It is the most ethnically diverse area in the country. Although the crowds can be overwhelming during morning and late-afternoon rush hours, the streets remain busy throughout the day. Large religious buildings represent various faiths, while market stalls and shops offer a wide array of goods.

Colombo Lotus Tower - This is Sri Lanka’s tallest tower, standing at 350 meters (1,150 feet). It ranks as the 11th tallest tower in Asia and the 19th tallest in the world.

BMICH - The Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall is one of the premier convention centers on the island. Situated in the Cinnamon Gardens area of Colombo, BMICH offers over 16,000 square feet of floor space. Opened to the public in 1998, this convention center was a gift from the People’s Republic of China in memory of Sri Lanka’s late Prime Minister Solomon Ridgeway Dias Bandaranaike. The construction was a collaborative effort between Sri Lankan and Chinese workers. BMICH is managed by the Bandaranaike National Memorial Foundation (BNMF).

Galle Fort - The Galle Fort, also known as the Dutch Fort, is a fortification initially built by the Portuguese on Sri Lanka’s southwestern coast. The original fortifications, constructed in the late 16th century, were quite basic. UNESCO recognized the site as a World Heritage Site for its unique display of an urban ensemble illustrating the interaction of European architecture and South Asian traditions from the 16th to the 19th centuries, meeting criterion number four for such recognition.

Galle Fort Lighthouse - Located within the iconic Galle Fort, the Galle Lighthouse is built seven meters above the road on the ramparts. It is Sri Lanka’s oldest light station, dating back to 1848, although the original lighthouse was destroyed by fire in 1934. It was rebuilt to its current height of 26 meters. The light station is within the ancient Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a popular tourist attraction, making it the most visited lighthouse in the country.
