Cologne Christmas Markets 2022 - First time being here for Christmas despite my mother being from Koln. Went with my fiancé and had the best time. 7 markets in total, start off at the one next to the cathedral and then onto Altsradt. Finish at Angel’s market up near Neumarkt. Lots of trinkets to buy, at prices for every pocket. Lots of food so go hungry! Mulled wine available all over, you pay a deposit for your mugs/glasses that you can keep, or return for your deposit. Most places take cash only, so make sure you have plenty, otherwise they refer you to the nearest ATM. Same with some bars and restaurants- cash is King! Weather was mild and best time to go is at dusk, otherwise it gets too crowded.
