Soaring Above the Caribbean

The Caribbean has always been my playground, a place where the ocean’s embrace feels like home. But this time, I was ready to take my adventures to new heights—literally. Parasailing over Orient Bay Beach in Sint Maarten was calling my name, and I couldn’t resist the allure of experiencing the island paradise from 300 feet above. As a former professional surfer, the ocean is my sanctuary, but this was a chance to see it from a whole new perspective.

Arriving at Orient Bay Beach, I was greeted by the vibrant energy of the island. The sun was shining, the waves were gently lapping at the shore, and the air was filled with the promise of adventure. With a life vest securely fastened and my shoes left behind, I hopped onto the jet ski that would take me out to the parasailing boat. The ride was exhilarating, the wind whipping through my hair as we sped across the water. As someone who spends a lot of time in the ocean, I felt a familiar thrill, but this was different—this was about to be an adventure in the sky.

Once aboard the boat, Roberto and his crew explained the process, ensuring I felt comfortable and confident. As they strapped me into the harness, I could feel the anticipation building. And then, with a gentle tug, I was lifted off the deck and into the sky. The initial rush was incredible, a mix of adrenaline and awe as the world below shrank away.

A New Perspective

Up in the air, the world was transformed. The turquoise waters of the Caribbean stretched out beneath me, a shimmering expanse that seemed to go on forever. The beach, with its golden sands and swaying palms, looked like a postcard from paradise. It was a moment of pure serenity, a chance to disconnect from the world and simply be present in the beauty of the moment.

As I floated above the island, I couldn’t help but reflect on the countless adventures I’ve had in the Caribbean. Each one unique, each one a testament to the magic of island life. But this—this was something special. It was a reminder that there’s always a new way to experience the ocean, always a new perspective to be gained.

After what felt like both an eternity and a fleeting moment, it was time to return to the boat. The landing was smooth, and as I touched down, I was filled with a sense of accomplishment and joy. Parasailing over Orient Bay Beach was an experience I’ll never forget, a chance to see the world from a new angle and to embrace the thrill of the unknown.
