Additional Information

The Queenstown Story @ Cobh Heritage Centre, teeming with historical relevance and legacy, is an essential stop for any visitor. This engaging, educational hub is cleverly located within the refurbished Victorian Railway station in Cobh, a structure with its own significant past.

Considering that Cobh(Queenstown), one of the planet’s most exceptional natural harbours, was the departure point for countless individuals from Ireland’s history, there are numerous poignant and historical narratives of The Queenstown Story to explore. Over three million Irish citizens embarked from this harbor town seeking a fresh start.

The exhibits creatively cover a gamut of topics ranging from the tragedies of the Titanic and The Lusitania, the forced labor inflicted upon the forgotten Irish during the Cromwellian era to the West Indies and American Colonies, to the tales of emigration to Canada and North America. These displays are presented in an array of contemporary, pleasing and artistic formats.

Very interesting visit - Very interesting and enlightening visit and I say that as someone educated in Ireland. I learned a lot of facts I didn’t previously know - very moving and tragic history lesson from a dark period in Irish history.

Hiding - I was puzzled. I had known for years about Queenstown and that It no longer existed . Like many others I had had family pass through . Noone has explained to me that it was actually COBH. A tremendous underselling of the place as I might just have passed by. I enjoyed much more than Titanic museum in Belfast as I felt really authentic and not just after the Titanic noise which is actually a pretty small part of the Migration saga

Cobh highlights - Cobh deserves more time! If you want to see the Titanic exhibit, buy tickets ahead of time since there are so many tourists. The Heritage exhibition /Queenstown exhibit was also excellent and the town itself is worth visiting.

Great history lesson - A great alternative to the Titanic Experience which we were unable to visit. Tour around took over an hour and is well worth the visit

Cobh heritage centre - Nice way to pass an hour or dso. Plenty of different emigration stories from Canada to USA to Australia. Also covered the Titanic and the sinking of the Lusitania. They were lovely at the front desk and got a reluctant 7 year old to participate in a kids trail. You can also book genealogy appointments. There's a gift shop and a cafe here too.

Not Overly Impressed - This visit was somewhat disappointing. Really, most of the displays are information already learned from documentaries or basic history lessons. Overall, we found the museum looking a bit "tired". I think it was difficult to compare this visit after being in Dublin with some of the larger more modern museums. Overall, we found Cobh to be a little on the rough/ seen better days town.

Not a bad stop for emigration history. - The site is fairly small so it can get crowded. There are some nice displays and good history of the area. A little too much focus on the Titanic for my taste.

Fine for a once-off visit. - In the kid’s opinion,it was “fine”.A lot of repetition, and not as interactive as many other similar attractions. The entire area is very tired, and the toilet area was filthy, which is a shame considering that this may be tourists first experience of Ireland when they arrive from cruise ships.
