Craig is an awesome instructor that adds to what we have learned in the book materials. Craig is very good at showing us how to work the navigation problems in a way that makes more sense. I had Craig on the 103/104 classes as well. With Craig and the friendly team there at South Coast Sailing, you cannot go wrong in furthering your sailing education! Thanks, Frank Clark

This class should be two weekends, One weekend to go through the course material and beginning exercises and the second to finalize and take the test. There should be some explanation to the learning of charting and Navigation that consist of more than 1 day. Capt Craig did an excellent job in explaining the concepts, just the next day is not sufficient and time to go away and practice should be included. Otherwise in preparing for the course, there should be a series of brief online reviews prior to the class for charting concepts and things to understand.

This class was very difficult for subject matter that was really hard to understand, but captain Craig made it as simple as it possibly could be and create an atmosphere of learning that was really effective. We were able to pass because of Captain Craig‘s efforts and his awesome teaching style.

I think the ASA 105 is a very difficult course to teach in a weekend, however Craig was a very helpful and complete communicator with a lot of energy and patience. His instruction was both deliberate and considered and would recommend this in person instruction as the local options for the 105 course are not apparently available much. It is probably the most important course you can have in preparation for taking a boat out for a day charter or a longer passage, this instruction was a valuable addition to my seamanship.

I have completed all of my trainings, including ASA 101, 103, 104, and now 105 at South Coast Sailing. Captain Lucy and her team are incredible and work to ensure that you have a good experience. I love my trainings there and have friends that are in the club as well. It's two hours away for me, so it's a treat when I get to go down to sail and see the team.

Captain Lucy is the greatest! She and all her staff and instructors were extremely professional and helpful. They make learning the material easy and interesting. I had a great experience in the 105 Coastal Navigation Course and can’t wait for the next levels.
