• Baia de Câmara de Lobos - The journey begins at the quaint fishing village of “Câmara de Lobos,” situated to the west of Funchal, where the port is a charming creek. The beach and harbor are visible, with houses clustered around the bay. In 1949, Winston Churchill chose this location to paint its scenic surroundings.
• Cabo Girão - Following the visit to Câmara de Lobos, the next destination is the world’s second-highest sea cliff and Europe’s tallest (580m) – (1775 ft). Here, one can enjoy stunning views of Câmara de Lobos and Funchal.
• Ribeira Brava Beach - The journey continues to Ribeira Brava. The town mirrors the character of the stream from which it derives its name: Ribeira (river) Brava (wild). The main attraction is the mother church, built in the 16th century and modified over time. It features a Flemish artwork and a valuable Manueline-style baptismal font. Along the sea promenade, the fort of São Bento stands as the town’s landmark, where visitors can enjoy a cup of coffee.
• Ponta Do Sol - Next, head to Ponta Do Sol, one of the sunniest spots on the island, home to a charming village nestled in the steep valley folds, surrounded by dense banana plants.
• Vereda do Fanal - Ascending to Madeira’s mountain plateau, the Fanal forest is discovered. This magical forest often, but not always, shrouded in mysterious fog among 600-year-old trees with twisted branches. Visitors gradually enter an extraordinary landscape enveloped in a mystical mist that creates a unique atmosphere. Once at Fanal, weather permitting, a 15-minute walk in the Laurel tree forest is optional.
• Porto Moniz Natural Swimming Pools - Navigating a zigzag road leads to Porto Moniz, where the main attractions are its stunning natural pools. Along the promenade, stretching from the natural pools to the pier, delightful restaurants offer local seafood and other delicious dishes.
• São Vicente - The journey continues to São Vicente, a charming town with narrow, picturesque streets and pristine white old houses. The mother church dates back to the 17th century.
• Miradouro do Véu da Noiva - After leaving Porto Moniz, the route leads to Bride’s Veil, traveling along the famous north coast route. With a small group, the drive passes through Seixal, a picturesque village. Its spectacular coastline is dominated by mountains, where a stop is made to view one of Madeira’s famous waterfalls, Bride’s Veil.
• Serra de Água - As the tour concludes, the journey passes through Serra de Água, one of the region’s most breathtaking mountain landscapes, where the diverse peaks of Madeira’s majestic mountains can be admired.
