Verde Canyon Railroad provides a luxurious train ride through a 20-mile wilderness area, along a wild and scenic river, only accessible by rail.
For three and a half hours, passengers enjoy comfort and style, exceptional amenities and outstanding service in vintage rail cars on a century-old route. Through a red rock paradise, with tracks that hug the curves of the Verde River every season offers a different reason to ride.
Astonishing views of a wild and vibrant frontier, historic trestles, bridges and a 7000-foot tunnel are just a few of the highlights tucked into unusual rock formations, red rock pinnacles and towering crimson cliffs.
Majestic bald eagles and hawks float effortlessly on the breeze above Javelina, wild burros, jackrabbits and many other Canyon creatures, peacefully coexisting with this heritage railroad for more than 100 years.
Verde River - The train travels along the Verde River for the entire duration of its 20 mile route
John Bell Railroad Museum - At the depot, open prior to and after the train ride, featuring a wealth of history about the train, the canyon and the area.
S O B Canyon - Historic trestle bridge travels 1000 feet over SOB Canyon
Sycamore Canyon Wilderness Area - The train passes the confluence of Sycamore Creek as it meets the Verde River, and this incredibly scenic red rock wilderness area

INCLUDES A SEAT, LUNCH, A LOGO BEER GLASS AND FOUR (4) BEER TASTING VOUCHERS. The highlight of the event is the variety of premier craft beers brewed in Arizona, with a festive atmosphere on the depot patio from 11:00am-12:45pm, just before the train departs. The Ales on Rails event provides comfortable seating arrangements with plush chairs and sofas, positioned near windows offering panoramic views. At your seats, you are served with individually packed, freshly-prepared nibbles that includes meats, cheeses, fruits, vegetables and our crowd-pleaser brownie bites. Complimentary bottled water is accessible throughout the journey. All the seating cars have access to open-air viewing platforms. The beer tasting session is scheduled on the depot patio before the train journey commences. Beer tasting vouchers are available for purchase only to individuals aged 21 or above.

Great Train - Great train ride. The ride was 3hr. Long. You get a good lunch, and a chessboard with a champagne toast. They also have a full bar on board. The train has comfortable seats, there are sofas, and tables too. There are outdoor cars for anyone who wants to sit outside. The canyon is beautiful.

Fun and relaxing - It was my birthday and we did the Ales on Rails for my fun activity. The train was very clean and the scenery was amazing. Our train attendant (bar tender) was super fun too.

Fun time on the rails - We celebrated a weekend way for our anniversary and decided to try Ales on the Rails. Purchased our tickets weeks in advance and was happy we did. The cost of the ticket included lunch at the station, unlimited refills on soda, appetizers, water, and a champagne toast. The cost of alcoholic beverages on the train was comparable to most bars. Though we did not see any wildlife the peaceful surroundings and beautiful landscape was a perfect getaway. Great value for the cost and would do it again.
