Sailing Adventures in Minorca: A Family’s Journey to Unspoiled Beaches
Eager to explore the unspoiled beaches of Minorca, I embarked on a family-friendly sailing adventure from Ciutadella. Join me as I share our delightful journey along the southwest coast, discovering hidden coves and creating cherished memories with my children.
Setting Sail from Ciutadella
Our adventure began with a convenient coach ride from our hotel to the port at Ciutadella. The kids were buzzing with excitement, and I was grateful for the comfortable journey that allowed us to relax and enjoy the scenic drive. Upon arrival, we boarded a spacious boat that could accommodate up to 240 passengers. With tables and chairs both inside and on the top deck, it was the perfect setting for families. I had packed some games and books to keep the kids entertained during the sail, but the stunning views quickly captured their attention.
As we set sail along the southwest coast of Minorca, the boat’s crew pointed out various places of interest. The kids were fascinated by the stories of the coastal landmarks, and I appreciated the educational aspect of the trip. Snacks were available for purchase, and we couldn’t resist trying the donuts and ice creams, which were reasonably priced. The gentle sea breeze and the anticipation of exploring unspoiled beaches made the journey truly delightful.
Discovering Cala Son Saura
Our first stop was Cala Son Saura, a breathtaking beach with powdery white sand and crystal-clear blue waters. The kids were eager to jump into the water, and I was thrilled to see them enjoying the natural beauty of the beach. We had an hour and a half to swim and relax, and despite the number of visitors, the beach never felt overcrowded.
The short walk from the boat to the beach was easy to navigate, and for those feeling adventurous, a 10-minute walk led to another picturesque cove. The kids loved exploring the rocky paths, and I enjoyed the opportunity to soak in the sun and unwind. The time flew by, and soon it was time to return to the boat for a delicious plate of paella and a refreshing drink. The option for seconds was a pleasant surprise, and the kids happily indulged in the traditional Spanish dish.
Exploring Cala en Turqueta
After lunch, we continued our journey along the coast, taking in the mesmerizing views of the grottos and other beaches. Our next stop was Cala en Turqueta, a stunning beach nestled within a nature reserve. The kids were thrilled to swim from the boat to the beach, while I opted for the scenic walk along a rocky path. The natural steps added a touch of adventure, and the presence of friendly goats added to the charm of the experience.
We had another hour and a half to enjoy the beach, and the kids made the most of the time, swimming and playing in the sand. The serene environment and the unspoiled beauty of the beach made it a perfect spot for family bonding. As we sailed back to Ciutadella, I reflected on the day’s adventures and felt grateful for the opportunity to create such wonderful memories with my children.
The Southwest Minorca Sailing experience was a perfect blend of relaxation, exploration, and family fun. With its stunning beaches, educational insights, and family-friendly amenities, it was an unforgettable day that left us all longing to return to the beautiful island of Minorca.
