Exploring Menorca’s Hidden Beaches: A Family Adventure on the South Coast
Join me as I recount our delightful family adventure on the Menorca South Coast Boat Tour, where we explored hidden beaches and embraced local culture.
Setting Sail on a Family Adventure
As a travel writer and a mother of three, I’m always on the lookout for family-friendly adventures that offer both fun and a touch of education. Our recent trip to Ciutadella de Menorca was no exception. We embarked on the Menorca South Coast Boat Tour, a half-day exploration of Menorca’s stunning south coast beaches. Departing from the charming Cala’n Bosch marina, we were greeted by the warm Mediterranean sun and a friendly crew ready to make our journey unforgettable.
The boat was spacious, and we opted for seats on the upper deck to enjoy the panoramic views. While the seating was a bit snug, it was nothing that detracted from the experience. The kids were thrilled to be on a boat, and the excitement was palpable as we set off. The staff was attentive and made sure everyone was comfortable, offering tips and stories about the coastline we were about to explore.
Discovering Hidden Gems
The tour took us past some of Menorca’s most breathtaking beaches, many of which are only accessible by boat or on foot. The kids were fascinated by the wild coastline, and the multilingual audio guide provided interesting tidbits about each location. We passed by Playa de Cala’n Bosch, Playa de Son Xoriguer, and several other stunning spots, each more beautiful than the last.
One of the highlights was our stop at a secluded beach. Although we had to change our original destination due to a sea swell, the alternative was equally enchanting. The kids didn’t mind the seaweed, which was unlike anything we’d seen back home. It was more like tiny pieces of wet paper, and they had a blast wading through the clear waters. We even spotted a family of goats, much to the delight of my youngest, who insisted on taking a dozen photos.
A Taste of Local Culture
As we made our way back to the marina, the crew treated us to a taste of local culture with a traditional gin and lemon drink served from a porron. It was a fun and unexpected experience, and the kids giggled as they watched the adults try to catch the stream of liquid from the long-spouted glass bottle.
The tour was a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure, with plenty of opportunities for the kids to learn and explore. The staff’s warmth and hospitality made us feel right at home, and the beautiful scenery left us with memories to cherish. If you’re planning a family trip to Menorca, I highly recommend this boat tour as a way to see the island’s hidden treasures and enjoy a day of fun on the water.
