Highlights
  • Iglesia El Rosario - Our tour guide will take you to a truly remarkable place, a church unlike any other in the world where you can admire architecture with unique designs and, above all, the history that this beautiful and mysterious temple conveys.
  • Catedral Metropolitana - You will visit a church with a singular history, highlighting both its religious significance and its role in the country’s armed conflict. This is the church where the main image of El Salvador’s patron saint, El Salvador del Mundo, is housed.
  • Plaza Barrios - Located in the historic center of San Salvador, Plaza Gerardo Barrios is home to a statue dedicated to President Gerardo Barrios, crafted by Francisco Durini and unveiled in 1909.
  • Plaza Libertad - In 1545, settlers who left the Villa de San Salvador in the Bermuda Valley established a new settlement called “La Aldea” in the Hamacas Valley, near the banks of the Acelhuate River. Over the years, the city expanded around an open area known as the Plaza Mayor or Plaza de Armas, which is today’s Plaza Libertad.
  • National Palace - We will take in a panoramic view of the National Palace, situated in the historic center of El Salvador’s capital city. This two-story building features a predominantly neoclassical style, with some neo-Renaissance decorations and, to a lesser extent, neo-Gothic elements. Its gates and other bronze and iron decorations are in the art nouveau style. Therefore, it’s fair to say that its architecture is eclectic, though neoclassicism is the most visually dominant style.
  • National Theater San Salvador - We will have a panoramic view of the national theater, whose construction began in 1911 and was completed in 1917. It stands as one of the most significant centers for performing arts in the country.

Erick brought San Salvador to life for me - The Iglesia de Rosario and the crypt of the cathedral. Erick my guide (I had him to myself) quickly took note of what I was interested in (church buildings and history yes; shopping in the market, not so much), and really brought El Salvador alive for me. Thank you Erick
