Excellent way to see the city and hear about it's history - This is the best way to get your bearings if this fabulous city. The staff are really helpful and they have great knowledge of the history of the area. Well worth the money as you can hop on and off all day.

A great way to get your bearings and introduction to the history of York - An excellent way to get your bearings and a very interesting introduction to the history of York. If you’re lucky, you’ll get a live commentary, but the recorded commentary is excellent too. The ticket lasts for 24 hours, so over two days and multiple stops, we did 2 1/2 circuits. The recorded commentary is clearly gps linked, so if the bus is delayed at traffic lights for example, the commentary is more in depth and the bus is moving, you get plenty of notification of which way to look and what to lookout for. Better still is the live commentary from Mark. Mark has a very in-depth knowledge of York and its history throughout the last 2000 years. Mark’s comentary is amusing and interesting. The only problem with Mark is, he’s a Sunderland fan; ah well, it’s not his fault he has that affliction! All in all, it was a very enjoyable experience and excellent value. Brilliant. If you can get a live guide all the better. - Just do it. It is a great intro to the city. The recorded audio is fine but if you can get a live guide all the better. Mark is brilliant - not just York facts. We live in York and done it several times when we have visitors. Give it a go.

Great way to start your trip to York - Very informative and interesting hour spent in the company of the extremely knowledgeable and fun Sunderland supporting Geordie tour guide who amended the trip to include facts about each of the visitors’ home towns!

Great way to get around the city when you don't know where anything is. - We got on the hop on hop off bus because my friend has mobility issues. It was great. We managed to target particular tourist attractions - Shamble, York Minster, Clifford's Tower. It gave us a great way to get around the city without getting wet on a up and down day. The drivers and people at the stops were very helpful and we had a live tour guide on one of the buses who helped point us in the right direction.

Affordable quick tour - Excellent guide-commentator and overall nice, well-paced city bus tour. The 3.5 jack ports for headphones, and USB ports in the back of sits would benefit from maintenance, though - half of what I tried was not working.

Good but not great. - Interesting tour. We have used hop on tours in many cities across the World and loved most of them. Found the narration on this tour really annoying as it seemed to refer to the narrators point of view rather than history. The narration was very hesitant with too many filler words.
