Good value and guide - Enjoyed just relaxing listening to the commentary on a comforable bus! Did the whole trip. Stopped off to walk the Magdelena castle and explore the beach. Saw Santander as I never would have on my own. Regular pickups

Bus was very good - We came off the cruise ship and got on board the bus very easily. Our first trip round the headsets were not working for us but we were coming back on later so no issues. Second trip all fine and we got to the summer palace and found out the land train was included in our ticket. Perfect. Heard all the talk on both parts of journey. Well worth it for our day in port at Santandet

Great Way to Get an Overview of the City - We had never done a hop on-hop off before but we thought we’d give it a go - it was a great way to get a sense of the city. We only “hopped off” twice - once at the lighthouse and once at Magdalena Peninsula, but we enjoyed being able to see different neighbourhoods, architecture, landmarks, etc. The bus comes about every 40 minutes so you have lots of time to see the things around each stop. At Magdalena we took the train up to the palace and then chose to walk down - I recommend this if you aren’t into hiking up a big hill :). It worked out very well. They offer audio tours in multiple languages - you plug in headphones into the bus/train to access the audio. The only problem we encountered was that the connection did not always work. On the bus I had a good connection but my husband didn’t, and on the train it was the opposite. Also, on the train, the driver does an overview in Spanish over the intercom, which made it very hard to hear the English translation over the headphones.

Ok if you have heaps of time. - A helpful way to see a beautiful city. But it took a lot longer than expected. We got off once at Magdalena Palace for about 30 minutes and then waited an hour for the next bus. The whole tour took about 4 hours only getting off once. There was quite a bit of waiting sometimes at stops. Also watch out for long hanging branches if you're on the top deck.

Avoid - We arrived at Santander. Christina sold us our tickets for 80 euros in cash as she said there was a problem with the card machine. We were told there were 4 buses coming soon , 45 minutes of waiting and no bus. One did come and sailed past , then another arrived but it did not have capacity for all the people waiting in the sun. I asked for a refund and Christina refused and was unwilling to do anything for us . We never did get on the bus because we gave up . Don’t be like me do something better with 80 euros.

Stay clear until they get a grip the service - Took the bus yesterday charged 20 euros each went a couple of stops then we were all told to get off and await another bus which arrived 20 minutes later. Boarded that bus then that driver got off to have a cigarette before leaving. Got off the bus to visit an attraction then caught it again only to find same driver after two stops she got off again for a cigarette whilst we all sat there after 15 minutes another driver took over. What should have been a 40 trip took most of the afternoon. Book on line it will be cheaper I saw the first driver charge some Spanish people a lot less than us.

Santander hop on hop off disaster - The bus ride though comfortable was not very exciting as we constantly had huge delays on most of the stops. At one stop the delay was over 30 minutes. Not great for a hop in hop off bus. Water our money

Don’t hop off - 2 buses running. Always full so whatever you do don’t hop off you won’t get back on. Got off at Magdalena Penninsula, lovely and little train was fine. Only way back to port was to catch a local buss, only €1-30. Should have just done that. Particularly bad for elderly people waiting in the heat.

Never got on the Bus - Do NOT use the Hop On Hop Off from the Santander cruise terminal. We arrived unexpectedly in Santander, Spain due to a ship diversion. We thought it would be nice to get an overview of the city and then select a museum to see. When we got off the ship, there was a Hop On Hop Off stop. There was a person with a mobile credit card machine and we paid 40 Euro for 2. After we purchased and got in line, we found out that there was a number on our receipt/ticket. After about a half hour, the bus came. And so did a whole bunch of people with lower numbers who were put in front of us in line. They had been told to "go have a coffee or something and come back later." We had number 28. We couldn't get on the bus because it was full. We were told we would have to wait another hour for the next bus, and that if enough people didn't get off, we wouldn't be able to get on that bus either. AND it is Spain so the bus doesn't run from 1:00 to 2:30 we were advised. It was 11:00 a.m. by this point. We asked for our money back but we were told the ticket was non-refundable. We walked to the Maritime Museum, which was a bit of a hike (and recommended). We got nothing but aggravation and lost time standing in line for our 40 Euros.
