Good sightseeing - I decided to pass a little bit of time getting my bearings on my first day in Bergen. I caught one of the buses by the Fish Market. I sat upstairs and had my little headphones. Unfortunately the system where I was sat didn’t play the English commentary very clearly. When I found English version it was very crackly and couldn’t really tell what was being said. That was the only downfall of my tour.

As good as was possible. Not quite 5 Stars . . . . 4 and a half. - Caught the early one and then stayed on again to get certain of our bearings. Well worth doing. Audio worked well too. would recommend.

Great way to see the city - popular stops can get really crowded. - We stumbled upon this tour and were glad we did. They offered earphones with narration of sights around the city. It stopped at all the great points of interest. Be sure and stop at the funicular and ride it to the top for spectacular views. The only problem was trying to catch a bus back, we were on a cruise ship and needed to get back on time. We waited in a long line as 2 busses stopped but didn't have room for any more passengers. Some people left the line and grabbed a taxicab back to the ship. We walked backwards to an earlier stop and finally found a seat and were able to get back to the cruise ship on time.

Adequate tour, but hope for a sunny day. - I was a bit disappointed in this tour; it did not live up to other similar tours. It was a drizzly day (not unusual, I understand), and so the windows were foggy and we had to continually wipe them down. We were on the second level and it was hard to see out the top of the windows; they needed to have a larger pane of class to see the tops of buildings. Many of the audio connections did not work. My husband and I tried about six before we could find two that worked. That said, it did make a good loop around Bergen and you could see where you might want to come back to explore. Important to note: if you arrive on a cruise, the instructions said to meet the bus outside of the terminal. That's the MAIN terminal. We went to a different one, and by the time we exited the ship, there was no one around to point us to the bus stop. The company needs to address this issue.

Overpriced and Underwhelming - While Bergen is a bit pricey for food and entertainment, the Hop On Hop Off bus is very overpriced for what you get. Two tickets were $89. Most of the stops were underwhelming. Recorded tour narrative was a bit off cue and difficult to understand. Would recommend a guided walking tour with an actual guide.

Hop on/**** off bus trip rip off. - We had done the hop on/hop off buses in cities like Budapest, Vienna and Berlin in previous years, so we decided to do the same in Bergen. We bought tickets on 13th May. It was 15.44 pm and as we could not use the ticket on the 14th, because of other commitments, my wife asked the lady selling tickets - a pleasant lady called Taziana - if there was time to do the full circuit that afternoon. She assured us that we could, so we bought 3 tickets for 1187 nok - not an inconsiderable sum, even in a very expensive city like Bergen. We boarded the bus, but at around 16.25 the bus reached the terminus. We intended to stay on, but at this point the driver told everyone to get off - that was it for the day, he said. We weren’t even half way round! Rather than it being hop on/off, it was more a case of HOP ON/F*** OFF! We had been ripped off royally by the ticket seller; this does not reflect on the integrity of the bus company; nor does it reflect well on the city of Bergen. We could have hired a knowledgeable taxi driver for that sort of money who could have given us a personal tour - and with money to spare.

Dodgy bus driver - Beware, there is a bus driver who is selling bus tickets for cash on the bus refusing to take credit cards. He is fiddling the company. Only buy tickets from uniformed employees in Bergen

Overpriced the city is too small for that - Overpriced and there are 2 companies. Total cheek. Never again. You can easily walk through the city. Was a lesson for me, never again

I tried to cancel, but... - I tried to cancel, but was not allowed to so we decided to go so we could at least ride around and see sights. We waited for a bus for over an hour and one never showed up. It was pouring down rain and so windy you couldn't keep a hat on so we gave up. We lost our money on this adventure. Wouldn't recommend Bergen Hop on Off.

Rather have a sharp stick… or, beware consumers - Rank. Really. Just a flail. Count on an hour plus for the get on portion of the get off get on service. 2 hours for my wife and I to find a bud that wasn’t already packed full. Ended up having to find a cab to get back to ship. Every daggum bus had the same “sorry, we’re full, you’ll have to wait for the next bus”. Seriously, times 6. This, despite the fact that you’re absolutely crammed into the sardine can they call a bus. I’m 6’1” and my knees were crammed into my chin. Oh, but they did have headphones made to inform riders of the beautiful sights of Bergen. I changed seats 3 times and none of those “plug-ins” produced anything more than static. Never again. Next time I’ll just ask for a sharp stick I can poke in my eyes. Shame on that company
