Additional Information
Situated approximately 20 minutes to the south of Tulum, you’ll find a chance to relish in the beauty of varied bird species, delve into the history of ancient and current Maya society, and go bird-watching in the Muyil village and its archaeological site.
We’ll be embarking on an adventure traversing a variety of terrains within the village portraying various vegetation types; a mature semi-deciduous forest situated in the archaeological site of Muyil and freshwater wetlands as we tread through a swampy rainforest taking a boardwalk, eventually leading us to a freshwater lake.
During this expedition, expect to spot between 40 to 80 bird species (depending on seasonal variations).
Optional boat tours spanning across two lakes, and an exhilarating experience of floating along a leisurely river can also be included in this trip.
Please note, if no other guests have booked the tour, we may have to either cancel your booking or switch your booking to a private tour costing $230.

Great birding day in Sian Ka'an with Miguel! - Terrific birding day
Terrific guide and amazing day of birding in Sian Ka’an.
I had Miguel for guide. We had a fantastic day. We saw so many great birds.
Miguel his patinated by what he does, he is a great guy on the personal level as well.
So highly recommend this tour company and Miguel as a guide!!

Great experience - The tour was amazing. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, great at spotting birds (we even saw rare ones, and knew everything about the different archeological sites. Would definitely recommend.
We met people that did this tour one year before us, and they remembered it and the guide, another proof that this tour is more than worth doing!

AMAZING VISIT IN MUYIL AND SIANN KHANN - Paloma and paco showed us around the muyil site and the lagoons, it was great, the guides were infinitely kind.

Wonderful afternoon, between maya history, Muyil ruins, typical lunch and swim in maya river - The cost of the ruins, the boat and the swim in the Maya river were incredible ! The guide Alondla, told us a lot about the maya history, and Adan the driver was very helpful. I highly recommend this tour for an afternoon full of memories

Don't miss it. - This was a wonderful experience, enhanced by Miguel, our guide, who was very professional, knowledgeable and accommodating. Additionally, my wife and I were the only 2 people in the tour, so it was personalized attention. Plenty of birds and bird behavior. Great overall trip.

Perfect excursion for those interested in birding, culture & history - Had an incredible time with Miguel and Said during our half day birding tour. We paid extra for pick-up/drop off service since we didn't rent a car, and Said was our driver, he was super professional and lovely company throughout the morning. It was so peaceful waiting for the sun to come up and the birds to start chirping with Miguel, who brought us some breakfast and coffee. Once those birds were up, it was ON! Miguel knew great spots to bring us for a diversity of habitats, we saw so many birds even before entering the park. We had a delicious lunch at a local spot and headed into the biosphere. It was awesome to get to see the ruins, local neighborhoods and experience local food. Miguel was super knowledgable and great company, it was nice to learn a bit more about the culture through him and Said. Miguel kept a list of all the birds we saw, we got about 40 - 25 of which were new to me. My head was spinning!

Excellent guide, outstanding experience. - I have been birding for 50 years, but this is the first time I have used a professional guide. The experience was outstanding! Miguel is extremely knowledgeable of the local birds, and knows most of them by sound. The experience was 10 times better than going alone. I have 800 species on my life list,
and added 24 in one day. Highly recommended.

This will be the highlight of your vacation. - Do not miss this amazing trip, and don't even think about booking without the float portion of the tour. The river float was the best part of our 7 days stay in the area. Miguel from Amar Aves was incredible. His passion for birding, the local people, and the ecosystem was evident throughout the trip.
The included meals were simple and perfect. Be sure you are ready for the sun and bugs... because you are in the jungle! Bring your camera! I brought my Canon Powershot and it was safe and dry during the whole trip. You are able to secure in the boat while you float.
We saw so many beautiful birds (and a snake!) with Miguel's professional eyes and ears. I just can't say enough about how wonderful this whole experience was!

Terrific birding and guide - Terrific guide and amazing day of birding in Sian Ka’an.
We had Miguel and greatly enjoyed our day with him. We saw so many great birds.
Miguel also shared his bug spray with us, he was that nice. It made a huge difference.

Amazing and productive birding tour - Mexico Kan Tours and Amar Aves work together to put on its birding tours. If you book, ask for Miguel. My friend and I had a wonderful time and we appreciated Miguel's immense expertise, amazing patience, and wonderful sense of humor. I truly cannot tell you how happy we were with the day and will not hesitate to recommend their services to any birder I know looking for a tour in the area. The trip was organized, the itinerary was transparent and flexible, and we saw over 60 species. I also recommend paying a bit extra to swim in the lagoon. It was refreshing and we managed to see a few more birds!
