Welcome aboard the Christchurch Tram! Travel on our newly extended track & enjoy this unique and historic way to view the inner city. Drivers provide a live and entertaining commentary. A full circuit takes 50 minutes, includes 18 stops and there are up to four Trams operating. Trams run approximately every 15 minutes and your ticket lasts all day as a hop on and off pass
- Children must be accompanied by an adult
- Seats are cozy and secure, but please note outside seats are not weatherproof
- Children must be accompanied on the trams at all times by a paying adult. For safety reasons, we allow one adult to supervise up to three children/infants aged 15 years and under
- Folded prams can be accommodated on board the trams
- Please advise in advance if you are in a wheelchair
- Tickets to be collected from the booking office located in Cathedral Junction 109 Worcester St

Lots of Fun on the Trams! - If you are lucky enough to be in Christchurch you have to have a ride on the Tram! This experience was fantastic for me and my family! The whole trip was made extra special by Elliott and his teammates Joy and Ross! Elliott is the most knowledgeable and joyous character and you will have lots of fun! Thank you for making our trip to Christchurch so memorable!

A must do! - Absolutely fantastic! If your a visitor I'd recommend doing this day 1, you get a full commentary around the city with history. You can get on and off as many times as you like. Very knowledgeable team on board who are very willing to help. Gave us a fantastic list of places to eat and all were great!

Ding Ding - The Christchurch Hop-On-Hop-Off Tram is a must to do when visiting this magnificent calm and laid back city. We loved our time in Christchurch. These old restored trams are a real experience.

Fun way to discover Christchurch - We really enjoyed the tramway, it is a great way to visit Christchurch. Driver provides comments throughout the ride. You can hop off/on on each stops.

Great experience! - This is a wonderful way to get around Christchurch and learn about the city. Our drivers were very knowledgeable and entertaining, also giving us tips of when to see certain attractions. We would highly recommend the Tram as a way to see the city.

Worth the time - We had a bit of time to kill. We booked on line. The tram driver gave constant commentary along the route, with historical information and recent events from 2011 earthquake.
Hop on and hop off when you feel like it. Saves waking around the city.

Useful - Was helpful to get around as I had kids and family who couldn't walk so far. The commentary was interesting. What was disappointing was some non English speaking tourists got on at 4 pm and they still charged them the full $40 fare. They paid it but I feel they didn't really understand how it worked. It made me think how inconsiderate we can be to our tourist visitors. Hop on hop off buses have commentary in other languages. We could at least provide a simple printed translation of key ideas and points of the tour and after 4pm offer a discounted rate.

A Fun Round Trip! - The idea of the tram is great, the execution is lacking. It is a much better single ride all the way around than a “hop on hop off” mode of transportation. Some of the tram stops could be better marked, and the schedule of arrival was - well, nonexistent. We just had to look down the street and hope one was coming soon. The tram operators were delightful and knowledgeable.
Overall, a fun experience, but if you’re on a time crunch, or it’s really cold outside, you’re better off walking.
