With over 300 species of birds throughout the year, it is the only Park that was established for its biological and ecological considerations rather than its geological features.\n\nHowever, most of the 1.5 million acres in the Park are flooded and essentially out of reach for the average visitor. Everglades Area Tours can you take you to areas seldom reached by others.\n\nIn comfortable captain’s style seating, you will be safely brought deep into Everglades National Park’s 10,000 Islands for an interpretive tour with your naturalist guide.\n\nDepending on the season, you can expect to encounter manatees, dolphins, sea turtles, bald eagles, ospreys, herons, egrets, pelicans, rosette spoonbills, as well as, numerous species of fish and shore birds.\n\nNot only will you be introduced to the wonderful birding and wildlife in the area, you will also learn about the Everglades ecosystems, it rich heritage and long history. \n\nWe limit each experience to six guests, so you can expect an intimate experience in the wilderness.\n\nDon’t forget your cameras, hats, sunblock and drinks

Everglades Area Tours has been providing educational excursions since the 1990s. Our guides are professionally trained, full-time Florida Master Naturalists with significantly more experience than others. Although Everglades National Park is a wilderness with truly wild wildlife, our decades of experience offer the best chances to find, observe, and photograph these creatures. We are the “Quiet Alternative to an Airboat Ride.” Airboats are prohibited in the Park where we conduct our tours.
Note: From June through October, we recommend morning tours due to weather conditions.

Awesome experience! - He has amazing knowledge to share about the Everglades, the birds, and history or the sea shells. He communicated with us what, where, and how he was going to take us to places.

Wonderful two hours in the Everglades - We had a great time. It was a beautiful day, the boat was comfortable, and our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. We got close up to some nesting birds and while we enjoyed watching the birds our guide gave us all kinds of great information about the birds, their babies, and the island they were on. We continued our tour that took us to different island and we learned more about the native tribes that lived there, about a verity of species that live in the area and we got to see dolphins jumping out of the water near our boat.

Amazing nature tour - Amazing nature tour. We saw many birds and learned about the local ecosystem. It was beautiful weather and a great day for the tour. We loved seeing the dolphins too! Learned a lot! Thanks

More than a tour! - The tour was amazing! Our guide was Don, he was very friendly and informative. We had a great day of viewing many different birds, and saw quite a few dolphins. Thank you for sharing this place and your knowledge with us!

Don McCumber is the best! - Our guide, Don McCumber was very friendly, knowledgable, and fun! He personalized our trip to show us the things about the Everglades we were most interested in and went out of his way to make sure we encountered dolphins - #1 on our wishlist. He had so much information to share and was so welcoming. Two hours wasn't enough and went by in a flash! We could have spent an entire day with Don and would still want to come back for more!

Awesome tour! - Small boat tour. Guide was spectacular! We boated around Ten Thousand Islands and walked on a mangrove island at low tide looking at different live crustaceans. Saw birds, dolphins and many different sea shells

A great way to experience and learn about the Everglades - We loved our two hour boat tour with Don McCumber. He was informative and personable, we saw dolphins and so many birds. The route was varied, through open water and narrow passageways. We highly recommended it. I’d do it again if I’m in the area.

Enjoyable tour with a negative. - It was wonderful to get out on the water and it was a beautiful sunny day in March. We saw nesting pelicans, cormorants, and osprey. Also herons and a Snowy Egret. The dolphins were the highlight. Our guide increased the speed of the boat to, as he said, give the dolphins a ride. Some took the opportunity which allowed us to see them close up.
We also saw Calusa ruins which meant standing still. I was bitten a lot by no seeums. Not a big problem for most but I’m allergic and have had nasty, long term reactions in the past. Our knowledgable guide gave a lot of detail during this part of the tour, too much. He was strangely bossy about it and we were stuck there for too long. That was a negative but the rest of the tour was enjoyable.
