Additional Information

Your journey begins in the town of Chinchero, a significant location in the Inca Empire set on an elevated terrace at roughly 3500 masl. This site is enveloped by stunning Andean vistas and flanked by the serene beauty of the snow-capped Chicón and Verónica mountains. Every Sunday, the town transforms into a commercial hub for goods from the surrounding communities. Subsequent to this, you’ll explore the archaeological sites at Maras and Moray. Maras provides a breathtaking view. It’s an extraordinary salt mine extraction site. Its large salt reserves were traditionally bartered for goods from other parts of the Empire. The archaeological remains at Moray consist of puzzling concentric circular terraces that, some scholars suggest, might have been an agricultural research center. The outer, upper terraces were likely warmer than the internal ones and could emulate the conditions of various ecological zones within the empire. At the end of the tour, you’ll make your way back to Cusco.

  • Note: The visit to Maras is subject to changes during the months of December to March due weather reasons (rainy season)
