- Fangsheng Bridge - Fangsheng Bridge is situated at the east end of North Street, spanning the Caogang River. Constructed in 1571 by the monk Xingchao of Cimen Temple in Zhujiajiao, it took 15 years of fundraising to complete. Once finished, the area within 500 meters of the bridge became a site for monks and followers to release captive fish or tortoises. On the first and fifteenth day of each lunar month, people gather here to release fish. Stakes were placed in the river to prevent fishermen from casting nets and fishing, hence the name Fangsheng Bridge, meaning life-releasing. The bridge measures 70.8m in length, 5.8m in width, and 7.4m in height. It is a landmark of Zhujiajiao Ancient Town and the largest and longest existing five-arch stone bridge in Shanghai, known as the “No.1 Bridge in Shanghai.”
