Highlights
  • Parque Nacional Lagunas de Montebello - Admire the Montebello Lakes National Park, visiting from 4 to 6 lakes where you can appreciate its crystalline waters ranging from pale blue through violet, emerald and turquoise. They are famous for the color of their waters which is unique due to several factors, among which include the type of soil found at the bottom, the vegetation and the refraction of light. The tour is framed by a reed valley, mountains and tropical jungle in which rich and dense flora can be seen, including several species of orchids, bromeliads, juniper trees, palomillo trees, sapodilla, cedar and mahogany, among others.
  • Cascada El Chiflon - Our adventure starts when you are picked up at the door of your hotel, so you can continue toward the Chiflón Waterfalls, where through almost 5000 feet, you’ll be able to admire a series of waterfalls. You can reach the highest part of the mountain to enjoy the breeze from the Bridal Veil waterfall and its impressive drop of over 300 feet.

Not with a tour - It is a beautiful area with beautiful blue water where you can swim at your own risk. The highlight is the Chiflon waterfall. Apparently, if you walk along the left side at the entrance, you can go even higher where there is another waterfall, but we were with a tour and were sent to the right. Back you can go down with 3 ziplines if you don't want to walk back. For 1 pay 250 pesos for all 3 1350. The Montebello lakes are beautiful to see, but if you have been to Canada before, they are not special. Except for Lago International, which has the border between Mexico and Guatemala in the middle, very special. Unfortunately, you won't get a stamp in your passport.

Fantastic waterfalls - Waterfalls were fantastic, lakes less so - but perhaps because the weather wasn’t on our side. Only three stars due to poor communication in advance (pick-up time not as advertised), guide that spoke no English (we booked English tour) and it was an extremely long day - pick up 7:30am, drop-off 9:30pm
