- Kanchipuram - Guests will be collected from their hotel in Chennai and transported to Kanchipuram, approximately 45 minutes away. Historically, Kanchipuram was a hub of education, known as the “ghatikasthanam,” or place of learning. The city also served as a religious center for advanced education in Jainism and Buddhism from the 1st to the 5th centuries. Situated on the banks of the Vegavathy River, it is home to numerous temples. In Vaishnavism Hindu theology, Kanchipuram is one of the seven Tirtha (pilgrimage) sites. Fourteen temples dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu are located here. The tour will include visits to three temples that highlight this sacred town. Kailasantha Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is a pinnacle of Indian architecture. Ekambareshwara Temple represents the earth form of the five-element abode of Lord Shiva. The ancient Vaikuntaperumal Temple features stunning pillared corridors around the sanctum dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
- Kanchi Kudhil - The next stop is Kanchi Kudi, a 90-year-old house, authentic in its traditional architecture and functionality. It offers a glimpse into the life of an agricultural family in a small town. While temples and monuments reflect the cultural life of a city, the true essence of a place is found in its people and their homes.
Kanchipuram is renowned for its handwoven silk saris, with most of the city’s workforce engaged in the weaving industry. Visitors will have the opportunity to watch a traditional silk weaving demonstration. Lunch is included at a local restaurant (beverages at own expense). The private tour concludes with a return to the hotel in Chennai.
