Cooking in Chengdu!! - Not only has the city of Chengdu been the highlight of our trip, but meeting Jerry our guide for the cooking class was the ultimate best! From the moment he said hello in the lobby, to the walking tour of the markets and all his knowledge, we were having so much fun. We asked so many questions and he kept up with us. He took pictures for us, and we stopped and talked to many local people (with Jerry’s help!). Then we went to the cooking class and met Chef Liang. He helped us create three dishes that turned out so good! He understands English well and Jerry helps translate everything. At the end of the class, we ate our freshly-cooked meal. It was so nice of the chef to invite us into his home for this experience. It was so interesting! I can’t say enough good things about how much fun we had. And they even gave us a bunch of recipes: not only what we cooked, but more to try on our own with the techniques and ingredients we learned.

Great tour with Jerry as our guide - We had a wonderful time with Jerry as our guide- you need to ask for him if you go on this tour. He was full of energy and a lot of fun. Our chef was Leon and he was knowledgeable and hosted us in his home.

It was a lot of fun. We... - It was a lot of fun. We went to a market we otherwise would not have found, saw a number of interesting things. And it was a blast to learn first-hand how to cook some Sichuanese dishes. It was explained to us in an understandable way, and they made sure to give us some criticism and room for improvement, as well.

Experiential tour of local market and insight into Si Chuan cuisine - Guide Dong Chen was extremely hospitable. A detailed insight into local ingredients was given at the markets. We were also introduced to his quaint farm on the city outskirts where we cooked many sichuan dishes in an outdoor setting. Would highly recommend!

I recommend this class! - We enjoyed the class very much and learned a lot of new information, even in details. We first went to a market and saw and tasted fruits and veggies we hadn‘t used before. Arriving at the kitchen, the chef first showed the preparation of the dishes step-by-step. Afterwards, we reproduced the cooking by ourselves, supported by both cooking teachers. We then tasted the dishes we had made and compared them to each other to better understand which details in preparation resulted in which tastes. I now feel much more informed about Sichuan kitchen and capable of reproducing the dishes we learned also at home. There was lots of possibility for hands-on-experience and we could also taste exotic food, as for example Chinese fermented duck eggs. Winter invested a lot of time to answer all our questions and cared for an easy-going and fun experience for us. He even took care of taking photos so we could focus on cooking. Thank you for the great time we had!

Amazing experience! - Winter picked up us at the hotel and took us to a local market which was very exotic experience. After we bought some of spices or local fruit, we moved to the farm for the cooking class. Although it was 1h drive, driving was comfortable. Once we arrived at the farm, we had a tea time with some snacks and started the cooking class. We made mapo tofu, twice cooked pork, and chinese lettuce. The chef was very kind to teach every detail and took care of us, while winter took good pictures and videos of us. We had dinner there after cooking (which was amazing) and winter sent us back to the hotel. Overall the experience was very good and definitely recommended.

Cheng-Do This Cooking Class! - My friend David and I decided to take this class on the recommendation of a friend, and we were not disappointed. Our tour started with a jaunt through the local market. The knowledgeable and lovely Ocean the low-down on all the local ingredients and how they are used in Sichuan cuisine. My favorite part was learning about the “pigs-anus” vegetable, that despite the name, actually tastes good. For the second part of the tour we went and cooked three dishes guided by a real chef. This was my favorite part of the afternoon, as we cut, roasted, and mixed, I really felt like I learned how to make a few of my favorite Sichuan dishes. This experience is highly recommended for anyone who is heading to Chengdu, and wants to learn how the amazing cuisine here gets made. - David and David.

Lots of fun, delicious food and friendly faces! - I had a great experience cooking at Chilli Cool. Lance is fantastic at hosting cooking classes at the Chilli Cool Kitchen. He multitasked as a spice market tour guide, translator and photographer. Not only did I learn how to cook delicious Sichuan style food with a wok, but I got plenty of great photos of the experience. He also had spice market challenges for us that helped us interact with local people - very memorable! I highly recommend this experience. (One tip: many buildings in Sichuan don't have central heating, so make sure you dress warmly enough.)

An amazing afternoon exploring & cooking - My partner and I booked this tour due to the great reviews on trip advisor. We were not disappointed. Lance picked us up at our hotel and we meet the other people on our tour. We drove to the local market where Lance taught us about all of the different produce in Chengdu. We saw interesting animals and vegetables that I had never heard of. We had the opportunity to try samples of different traditional snacks and even made wontons. We went back to the tea house, enjoyed tea and some local snacks and met the chef we were cooking with. We cooked 3 amazing tasting dishes. It was a great afternoon learning about traditional Sichuan cuisine and learning more about the culture through Lance. We will definitely be cooking these meals back home if we can find all of the ingredients!! I would do this experience over again! Thank you Lance for a wonderful tour!
