In this unique 4-5 hour cooking workshop, you’ll get a chance to explore a traditional local spice market. With engaging tasks and the opportunity to learn about various kinds of Sichuan spices and ingredients which you will use later in the cooking class. This cooking class takes place in a traditional Sichuan Farm, where you’ll be greeted with local Sichuan tea as it’s their culture to serve friends and visitors. Following this, you will be guided through the cooking procedures by a professional chef in a warm and friendly kitchen environment. Lastly, you’ll get to savor your own culinary creations, accompanied by beers or other beverages. As it’s quite insightful, fascinating, and enjoyable, this cooking class will be a memorable one in your lifetime.

Brilliant Experience - We loved this cooking experience and it was a highlight of our time in Chengdu! We were met promptly outside the metro station, taken to a local market where we did some food shopping (paid by our guide Lance), tried making dumplings at a market stall and had a go at ordering food in Chinese. We then had some snacks and tea at the kitchen before getting stuck in making three dishes which were a pork dish, tofu dish and salad. We enjoyed the cooking and settled down to eat together and critique our dishes. The Chilli Cool team were so friendly, spoke excellent English and their kitchen was beautifully clean and hygenic. They also went above and beyond helping us to buy some spices as souvenirs and helped with some Chinese medicine which we really appreciated!
100% recommend this experience to anyone who is looking to do something a bit different :-)

If you love food this is your tour. - What a great experience! Chengdu is one of the great food cities in the world. I'm a terrible cook but I so desperately wanted to know more so maybe I could take Sichuan with me and make delicious food at home. Lance took us to the market and introduced us to the local vendors and spices. We bought the food we were going to make. Then back to the Chilli Cool kitchen to learn to prepare it. Chef taught me to actually cook something and it was so delicious. Lance so thoroughly and thoughtfully explained in English. I went solo but made friends. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone. I had such a great time.

Excellent Szechuan Cooking Experience - Chilli Cool Workshop is a must do experience in Chengdu! A cooking class with a young team of entrepreneurs, and great cooks. We had an authentic experience with Lance at the local market, introducing us to the vendors, discussing produce and learning Chinese language to make and order wontons. Excellent! The food was sublime utilising the quintessential flavours of Szechuan. We wish Chilli Cool Chengdu every success - if you’re going to Chengdu say hi to Lance.

Great adventure, 💯 recommended! - We spent a great day with the Chili Cool team 🌶️🌶️🌶️! Jerry picked us up from the hotel and we had an amazing market tour where he patiently answered all of our questions. Communication in English was very easy and the food was very tasty! They even offered a vegetarian version for us. We can recommend the class 💯. Thank you so much for the great time!

Great cooking and cultural tour! - Ended up with a private tour! Lance was a super informative and friendly guide through the wet market tour, an unexpected side baijiu tasting, and throughout the cooking class. Despite my terrible cooking skills we managed to make 5 DELICIOUS dishes that I feel like I could recreate at home (given some more practice)! Lance was super easy to talk to and I learned so much about Sichuan and Chinese food and modern culture. Highly recommend this tour and this tour group!

Sichuan cooking classes - This cooking class was amazing! We learned how to prepare traditional dishes from Sichuan. We also visited the local market to buy necessary ingredients and our guide helped us with some Chinese sentences. Our tour guide Lance and chef Jerry were amazing people. We had really nice conversation while eating all the food we cooked.

Fantastic experience for foodies - Go hungry as you’ll want to eat all the delicious food you will prepare. Our guide Jerry was enthusiastic and informative, with interesting anecdotes about the neighbourhood as we walked to the market. He invited us to try many different things along the way.
We were especially delighted to be welcomed into the chefs home to prepare our meal, as the cooking school was being renovated. We found chef patient and professional as he guided us through the 5 traditional Sichuan dishes. They even developed vegetarian options for me which I think surprised even chef as to how tasty they were.
Jerry was engaging and had wonderful English, and chef joined in the conversation during our shared dinner.
A special memory to take away from our days in Chengdu.

Just book it!!! - What an amazing experience!!! We had the most wonderful time with our guide and chef!
The market visits was great, we have learned so much and tasted various new things. The cooking class was just perfect, food delicious and playful, guide knowledgeable and really catered for our every need! They even took us back to the trian station. Just the best day !!!

Cooking in Chengdu!! - Not only has the city of Chengdu been the highlight of our trip, but meeting Jerry our guide for the cooking class was the ultimate best! From the moment he said hello in the lobby, to the walking tour of the markets and all his knowledge, we were having so much fun. We asked so many questions and he kept up with us. He took pictures for us, and we stopped and talked to many local people (with Jerry’s help!). Then we went to the cooking class and met Chef Liang. He helped us create three dishes that turned out so good! He understands English well and Jerry helps translate everything. At the end of the class, we ate our freshly-cooked meal. It was so nice of the chef to invite us into his home for this experience. It was so interesting! I can’t say enough good things about how much fun we had. And they even gave us a bunch of recipes: not only what we cooked, but more to try on our own with the techniques and ingredients we learned.

Great tour with Jerry as our guide - We had a wonderful time with Jerry as our guide- you need to ask for him if you go on this tour. He was full of energy and a lot of fun. Our chef was Leon and he was knowledgeable and hosted us in his home.
