- Giant Panda Breeding Research Base (Xiongmao Jidi) - Meet your friendly English-speaking guide at your hotel lobby and you’ll head to the Chengdu Panda Breeding Center, a non-profit research and breeding facility for giant pandas and other rare animals. Spend your morning with the cutest, yet impressive, creatures in China! 3 hours inside the Panda Center, tour through the baby and adult panda areas. On a guided tour, visit different sections of the center to get a full overview of a panda’s development. Visit the baby garden, where you can see giant panda cubs born in summer, which weigh only about 3.5 ounces (100 grams) at birth and by the third month are able to walk on their own. Then stop at the sub-adult garden, where the adolescent pandas hang out, and see the adult garden, which houses the giant pandas in all their full-grown glory. Take pictures of this endangered species eating bamboo, sleeping or frolicking about. Finally, visit the red panda section to see these small adorable animals and try to spot the sleeping red pandas stretched out on branches in the red panda garden.

Phenomenal Panda Experience with Perry! - The park and Pandas were amazing! Our guide Perry took great care of us and provided great Information on these incredible animals!

The number 1 thing to do when in Chengdu - We visited the Chengdu research base for the giant panda breeding with Perry. The venue is a great opportunity to get up close to the amazing Pandas with over 200 on site you are bound to get a great view. Perry arranged for an early am start to coincide with their feeding times so we had an excellent view. Having an experienced guide helps avoid long queues and also offers great insight to the history and individual details on the bears - definitely recommend and also ask for Perry

Panda's with tour guide Wells - Great tour and a great way to see the most Panda's. Our guide Wells new exactly where to go and when to go there to get the best views of the Panda's. Tour allowed our family to interact and view the center at our own pace while making sure we saw the most Panda's. Our tour guide was great, excellent English and he made sure we were in the right spot, he blended in with our family perfectly.

Friendly, knowledgeable guide for Chengdu Panda Base - I visited Panda Base with Perry as my guide in September 2025. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the research facility, he knows how to navigate around crowds and to minimize excess walking or time-wasting, and he even knows many of the pandas by name, their ages, even knowing their habits and mannerisms.
Perry’s English is top-notch, so if you have any concerns if you might have a language barrier, you shouldn’t with him.
I highly recommend!

Enjoyed My Time on the Tour - Jason was an excellent tour guide. I was able to get some wonderful photos of the baby, teenager, and adult pandas. I had a great experience and look forward to returning in the future.

Fantastic afternoon with the pandas - Cindy, our fantastic guide met us on time to go to the breeding centre. Her knowledge of the layout was so helpful and meant we could maximise our chances of seeing the pandas outside. Which we did. Cindy was welcoming and a real addition to our trip. The park is steep in bits and remember to take your passport. A fantastic experience.

Great, individual tour! - I had booked the private morning tour and was picked up at the hotel punctually at 07:30. Jason, my guide & driver, spoke excellent English, and was able to tell me a lot about life in China and culture in addition to a lot of information about the pandas.
I found it nice that wishes & individual pace were perfectly met. Around 12:15 we were back at the hotel. I had a great morning and can only recommend the tour!

Informative and well presented - A wonderful morning spent wandering round the panda base. We were lucky to see plenty of pandas outside and active. It was well signposted and we appreciated the information boards telling us all about the different types of bamboo and the bird life as well as giving us plenty of information about the pandas themselves. A lot of walking (we didn't use the shuttles) and impossible to cover everything in a half day - we could easily have spent the whole day there.

This tour was a wonderful... - This tour was a wonderful experience. We got to the Panda Centre early in the morning when the Pandas were quite active, mainly eating.
The Panda Centre is very popular and busy but it is still easy to move around. Our guide, Cindy Liu was extremely good at navigating the centre and finding us the best viewing areas in the most time efficient way. Her communication skills were excellent and she was a truly joyful person to be with. A great morning in Chengdu.

It’s def worth it. - We had a great time with our tour guide, Perry, at the panda base. He explained a lot about Panda and cultures in China. More than that, he is good at taking pictures!!! I highly recommend it especially when you want to use your time efficiently at the huge park.
