Perfect for children - Fantastic for young children.
You can see the animals up close.
The enclosures are large, and reproduce the natural environment well.

An experience e not to be missed! - This was an incredible experience and got to see a couple of big pandas up close.
As you probably know, it gets VERY crowded as soon as a panda is spotted. We went in October and the crowds weren’t too bad. Make sure you go early, ideally at opening time to avoid lining up.
Make sure you pre book your ticket. You don’t need a tour. Don’t expect to see pandas everywhere. We only saw 2 big ones and a couple of babies. And be patient, it’s a big place and may need to walk for a while before you see one but it’s a beautiful park to walk around. Plenty of food pls es and toilets

Very Touristy- Don’t Go when Warm Weather - Don’t visit in summer or autumn - too hot for pandas and very limited and controlled enclosure viewings.
Very large park set up for mass tourists and a lot of walking involved. There was a golf buggy shuttle available but long lines and wait times involved. Not great when you only have a AM or PM ticket session window at the park.
It was about 30 deg C day and we arrived 10am and were done by 12pm.
Signs were up at all enclosures saying due to heat pandas were inside and viewing lines were controlled walk throughs.
Our contact time with a giant panda would have been about 1 min each for three sightings though glass.
If wasn’t for the the red pandas this would have been a one star review.
Panda Valley in Dujiangyan (run by same company) is a much much better experience.

Poor pandas. - Very hot day - they put the pandas inside some small, cage like enclosures with 3 concrete walls and one window for tourists to take photos through.
Even arriving an hour early, I was met by a very exhausting throng of tourists both domestic and foreign.
I felt sorry for the pandas in their small cages, and myself for putting myself through the experience.
The overlooked red pandas were gorgeous, underrated, and the one saving grace of the base.

Disappointing Experience – Poor Accessibility and Unfriendly Staff - We were really looking forward to visiting the Chengdu Panda Research Base, but unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the most disappointing experiences of our trip through China.
While the pandas themselves were absolutely lovely and it was a joy to see them up close, the overall experience left a lot to be desired. Most notably, the staff was extremely rude — the only time during our time in China that we felt genuinely unwelcome.
The accessibility of the park is shockingly bad for anyone with mobility issues. Endless stairs, steep and uneven ramps, and very little thought put into accommodating less-abled visitors. Pushing a wheelchair through this park felt like an extreme sport, and there was no support or assistance available.
If you’re visiting with someone who has reduced mobility, or if you expect a respectful, welcoming environment, think twice before coming here.
The pandas are wonderful — but they deserve a better stage.

Confirmed tickets NOT purchased! - I purchased 2 tickets for Chengdu Panda research base, Feb 12 for the morning and Feb 13 for the afternoon. I arrived at the gate to see Panda in Chengdu research base w my passport. The gate agent couldn’t find my ticket. I had to step aside from the long line. I showed my confirmed confirmation # but again couldn’t find my ticket. This time, I stayed in line and text and call the agent, no answer. Than, the gate agent called. I was delayed access by 2.5 hrs. My morning ticket was for 8am entry. I finally reached the agent at 10:30am. The gate agent informed me that ticket was purchased for yesterday afternoon not the morning of Feb 12. No refunds was given! You can buy your ticket at the GATE. Don’t use TripAdvisor for tickets which is also Viator. However, your ticket will not show up on your Viator account. I even try to view my ticket but it said send to email but it did not. I even looked at spam email. The only way to get your ticket is going to the gate w your passport. That when I found out the agent bought the ticket on the wrong date! I stood in line for hours than had to get out of line. This process took 2.5 hrs of my time without any refund. The response I received from the agent: I did buy your ticket once I spoke to the gate agent. My early morning entry of 8am didn’t happen!

Passport Rejected Upon Entry - Unfortunately the my passport number was rejected at the entrance and I was unable to gain entry. I ended up purchasing another ticket for the next day through a different provider and had no issues.
