If you enjoy history, this is a must see. - Excellent tour guides. Well done Museum. We loved the integration of them and now and the level of detail used to tell each story.

Informational, inspirational - Very well organized and informative museum. A docent guides us through the first part of the exhibit and showed us how to use some of the onscreen displays that are also available online to access more detailed information and stories. Many inspirational stories from the history of medal honorees and some inspirational on screen interviews. This would be a great place to take preteens and teens to explain the true meaning of heroism.

Uncommon Valor for a Cause - A museum such as this is essential to all who need to learn about the formation of our nation. These individuals, who were awarded the Medal of Honor are but a few of the thousands of men and women who have contributed to the freedom that we enjoy here in the United States. As passé as it may sound, "Freedom is not Free." There are too many individuals today that do not have an appreciation for what we have here today. I highly recommend this museum to anyone who is interested in learning who these individuals are and what they did to be awarded the Medal of Honor.

Pleasant surprise - We saw an ad for the National Medal of Honor Heritage Museum at the hotel we were staying at, and decided to go before we left Chattanooga. It's a very nice museum, well kept, well organized, with very nice exhibits.

When visiting the museum, you are taken back in time, to mid 1800's. This is when the first Medals of Honor were presented. - The tour was self guided. There were short videos throughout telling you more about what qualifies you for the Medal of Honor. The stories shared there were very detailed in the person's life who received the medal. You could spend as little or as much time as you would like. My mom and I were there for about 2 hours. We would do it again.

Excellent and humbling place to learn about true American heroes, - Excellent and educational place that pays homage to the best of the best, with an emphasis on Medal of Honor recipients from Tennessee. It should be a required visit for all Americans to learn how much some paid for the freedoms we too often take for granted. Well worth a 60-90 minute stop. It is also right next to the Tennessee Aquarium.

Agree to Disagree - Spring Break with my 75 year old Vietnam Veteran husband trip to Chattanooga. I bought tickets in advance. Nice location with convenient parking. The information and exhibits were put together well. Very informed volunteer who was actually a veteran. Not the best day to go, there was a 3rd grade field trip there. My husband and myself ended up feeling "not so great" about the experience. I was glad to see the good intentions of sparking kid's interest in history. However, we truly felt out of place there. The needs of the kids tour far outweighed any experience we hoped to have. We couldn't listen to exhibit recordings, no matter what setting my husband tried to put his hearing aides on. It was frustrating. I guess we came off as grumpy old people because the Director of the center said "barking orders" at the kids wasn't productive and they should be allowed to experience the exhibit however they were able to connect to it. We just thought treating the place like a trampoline park wasn't exactly fair to the rest of us. Rolling on the floor, doing cartwheels etc...sure it's nice to be free of the classroom setting. I am not so old that I don't remember being a kid, but I was also taught respect for the place I was visiting and other people who may also be there, that the trip wasn't all about "me". The Director was highly educated and experienced and made sure that we knew it. He made sure that we knew everyone was welcome there to experience the exhibits "however" worked for them. Truthfully that's not exactly fair. Our experience was overrun. Great place for kids to experience, explore and be free. The timing made it not so great for an old hard of hearing vet and his wife that ended up crying (me). I felt the entire sacrifice of real human beings was being transformed into something for entertainment purposes rather than given the respect deserved.
