Additional Information

This is a trip to Samaria Gorge utilizing a seven-seat van and allowing a maximum of six guests (the price is inclusive for six people). Samaria Gorge is a unique National Park boasting distinctive plant and animal species, nested in the heart of the White Mountains. It stands out as, arguably, the top hiking trail in Crete and possibly one of the best across Europe.

It entails challenging trekking as the trail is rough and stony, demanding careful navigation. To do this hike, you need to be accustomed to tackling at least 6km hikes on a weekly basis. Otherwise, the hike may prove too exhausting and you possibly won’t make it to the boat in time. Transport services only are provided.

The hike through Samaria is a 16km downward trail running through forests and hills, alongside a flowing river with designated resting spaces. Its layout makes getting lost virtually impossible as you’ll be trekking in the gorge base enclosed by cliffs. The crossing takes roughly 5 hours.

The trip commences at 6 a.m. and wraps up at 9 p.m. After the hike, you’ll recline at Agia Roumeli, a small village featuring a handful of eateries and a beach. Here, tickets for the boat ride to Sougia will be purchased. Once at Sougia, return transport will be provided.
