Awesome - Wonderful experience. We were taken up into the mountains of Crete to a host house. Over the next 4 hours, we had a tour of the house, learned about Cretan history, had a local wine tasting, and made an incredibly delicious meal. It is vegetarian friendly and comes with a few surprises. I gained a newfound appreciation for olive oil—there can never be too much. One of the highlights of my trip.

George and his wife were the epitome of Mediterranean hospitality and were genuinely welcoming. Their farm is clean charming and made us feel the peaceful culture of Crete with great pride George even shared his personal heritage wine making us feel so special. the food was delicious and fun to make when we got back to the boat we all decided it was actually the best experience of our whole trip.

Crete vacation stop - My wife and I had a great time in Crete. It was the highlight of the three islands we visited, Crete, Santorini and Mykonos. Each island had it's own charactoristic, but Crete wasn't based on tourism, it had a very vibrant culture, it's people proud of that and wonderfully fresh locally grown fruits and vegetables made their restaurants amazing. I stayed in Elounda at the Blue Palace, a great hotel with beautiful scenery , huge rooms with a private pool. My wife and I visited a family farm which was a highlight of the vacation. The farm was handed down in the family and was cared for by grandchildren, uncles, aunts and cousins. There was traditional dances, music and food we helped prepare, and a lot of conversation. It was a great time and experience. The restaurants in Agios Nikolaos, very close by, were great. Our trip to Spinolonga, an island across from Elounda was educational as well as beautiful. There was so much more of the Island we would love to come back to again, it is a much larger Island and has very diverse areas we missed.

Not only we’re the views spectacular and the food delicious and easy to make, but the guides and hosts were so knowledgeable, friendly and fun. It was such a special way to experience Crete and it’s history.

A special visit to the farm and a fun cooking experience - Babis, our driver and guide met us promptly to take us high in the mountain town of Melidono to the family farmhouse to begin our tour of the farm and begin the cooking class. 8 of us including our guide, were introduced to stuffed tomato, pepper and zucchini, learning the Greek words for each, tzatziki, Greek salad, Dacos, spinach and cheese pie, wine tasting, Raki, all in a hands on experience led by the chef of the family. Beautiful scenery, beautiful food, beautiful family. An interesting tour of old farming implements, and introduction to the goats. A fun time to learn, share and enjoy the area. Bring a light sweater as it gets cool in the evening. We would do it again.
