10/10! - A glorious afternoon kayaking adventure! Ariel picked us up from Puerto Viejo and took us through the less-visited countryside, about 40 minutes on beautiful rural roads, to his family home near the lagoon where the tour begins. On the short portage to the water, we got to pick our own cacao fruit for later. We pushed off into tranquil waters bordered by huge raffia palms and mangroves, teeming with wildlife: we saw caimans, all three species of monkeys, iguanas, basilisk lizards, herons, kingfishers, parrots and parakeets, and much more. Ariel is extremely knowledgeable not only about the animals but about the history and ecology of the area. We took a break at the breathtaking black sand beach, where Ariel foraged and prepared coconuts and treated us to mango, banana, sugarcane, and cacao. It was such a pleasure to experience this remote paradise with a guide so connected to the land. Cannot recommend this tour highly enough!

Kayak the wild Costa Rica - Wonderful kayaking tour in Gandoca lagoon. Very quiet, peaceful, and relaxing. Saw a variety of wildlife. Ariel was a geat guide, very knowledgeable and helpful. Jungle views, red mangrove forest, and a short walk on the beach. Highly recommended.

Magical mangrove tour! - Our knowledgeable guide grew up in the small village where the tour started. He knows the rainforest and mangroves like the back of his hand. We had the most wonderful time! In our break at a lonely beach we drank fresh coconut water and ate some sugarcane our guide cut for us. We saw spider monkey family including a mum with a little baby very close.

Perfect Kayak Tour with Monkeys and Mangroves - What a lovely experience!! It was a beautiful private tour with just our group. From the drive there to being surrounded by the mangroves, it's a unique ecosystem that few people get to see. Ariel was very knowledgeable having grown up there. I would recommend it to anyone who wants an off-the-beaten-path Costa Rican adventure.
