In 1760, Horace Bénédict de Saussure set his sights on the Massif du Mont Blanc. As a notable scientist, his ambition was to ascend to the peak of Europe’s highest mountain to facilitate scientific exploration. A reward was rumored to be offered to the first person to reach the summit. It was Mr De Saussure who initiated the inaugural “Mont Blanc race” in hopes of discovering reliable mountain guides who would eventually accompany him to the top of Mont Blanc.
Essentially, the Mont Blanc race represents a journey only suitable for the crème de la crème of seasoned mountain guides. It calls for guides from across Europe to undergo rigorous physical, mental, and psychological evaluations to establish their proficiency and familiarity with the mountainous environment and its inherent mysteries. Proving their intellectual flexibility is also a pre-requisite. After these assessments, merely the top three groups progress to the ultimate challenge: the climb of Mont Blanc.
Two contenders for the race are Jacques Balmat and Michel Paccard, natives of Chamonix. With support from the Enigmatorium, our aim will be to identify the most adept and seasoned guides who can solve the assigned tasks, positioning them amongst the top three teams and granting them the opportunity to ascend Mont Blanc. Could these contenders be you? Lend your assistance to Balmat and Paccard on their expedition and strive to be the initial team to complete all the tasks…
Scan the set route for hints by unraveling puzzles, allowing you to steadily progress towards the final goal of the expedition.
