Great virtual tour of Cefalu, but wear your trainers if you have them! - Great way to see the city of Cefalu and learn all about its history at your own pace. We wondered how well this ‘virtual’ tour would work, but the audio descriptions were great and the use of Google maps to take you to the next location worked seamlessly. We saw much more than we would have done on a purely self-guided wander around the city. Just be aware that the tour ends with a walk up the Rocca di Cefalu. This is highly recommended for all travellers to the city - the views from the top are spectacular - but it’s a bit of a climb so trainers and a relatively early start to avoid the heat of the midday sun are recommended.

Great and inexpensive audio guide to Cefalu - This was a really useful and economic way of being guided around Cefalu We usually go for the ‘free’ walking tours, but when none were available this was a great alternative. Not only did it provide a sensible tour of the city and its places of interest but also added entertaining anecdotes and legends. The only drawback is that in order to follow the directions on your phone you need access to the internet, but you could easily follow on a paper map (hence 4 rather than 5 stars) Self- guiding has the advantage of allowing you to spend as long or as little in a place as takes your fancy. You can also stop for a drink or something to eat whenever you want to. The guide to Cefalu was available for 4 days, so you really can take your time if you want to. Don’t download until you know you are ready to go, or the tour might expire before you have chance to do it. Would definitely recommend.

Meh - Getting onto the website for the tour was easy enough. The map inside of it though is pretty cumbersome to use. You have to scroll up & down constantly to see where you need to go & then to get back to the next audio portion of the tour. Eventually, I just told my husband where we needed to go next & he Google Mapped it. Also, know that you need to pay extra if you want to go into any of the museum exhibits listed in the tour. However, what really burnt me was that the narrator constantly mispronounced the name of the town. If the company running the website wants to sound competent then the east they could do is pronounce the name of Cefalu correctly. To me, that just seems lazy & unprofessional. I'm glad we didn't pay anymore than what we did.
