Additional Information
Our Etna Tour Morning presents a half-day journey to explore the volcano which includes a visit to the ancient craters at a height of 2000 meters and a leisurely trek through a trail surrounded by volcanic settings. Beginning from your stay in Catania, we’ll first make a stop at a lava flow cave equipped with torches and helmets. The next stop focuses on uncovering the Silvestri Craters formed by the 1892 eruption on the volcano’s southern side. Advancing, we trek for roughly 1.5 hours on a path marked by old flows and extraordinary scenery in order to uncover the Silvestri craters that erupted in 1892 on the volcano’s southern flank. We will conclude the adventure with a traditional Sicilian lunch where you can enjoy the culinary flavors and wine history of the Etna region. A moment for indulgence but also relaxation before heading back to the meeting point in Catania.

Educational and fun experience - We were able to book almost last minute, the Etna morning tour (we reserved it in the afternoon of the day before). And it was really so worth it!
In the morning we drove up with the agency van to 2000m and went for a relaxed hike around craters of that height. It was very interesting since our guide Giuseppe was telling us the history of Etna's eruptions and it's geological past (and present, but we've learnt about its flora and fauna as well! The lunch at the restaurant was great and on the way back Giuseppe took us in his car, and he was so kind to drop us at the train station, where we continued our trip. 5/5 stars!

Our guide was wonderful.... - Our guide was wonderful. This was my first time seeing lava rock. Very beautiful place. Definitely worth it to make this part of anyone’s visit to Catania.

Interesting and emotional - Very interesting
Tour Guide Luca was very suitable
Wear warm clothes in apri beceause its windy and cold
Sometimes there is snow on top of the Mountain
The lunch was very tasty
To sum up, it was a very interesting and emotional experience
I would recommend Luca and his crew!!

Not ideal weather but the experience absolutely is 😊 - We found snow, rain and lots and lots of wind but we still managed to enjoy Etna and the walk.
Marilena was our guide and with enthusiasm and passion she made our day very pleasant and interesting
Absolutely worth doing again! maybe with the sun 😂

Excellent Etna crater hike and wine tasting - Very enjoyable day out with Giuseppe, who was patient, helpful, informative and cheerful. He drove us in his LandRover to the lower slopes of Etna, stopping on the way to explore a small lava tube. At the cable car station (we did not take the cable car) we parked to enjoy a gentle hike around spectacular old craters after a quick snack in the cafe (arancini of course). The surface is quite slithery so sturdy shoes are good. We were lucky to see Etna blowing unusual smoke rings. After the hike we drove a short distance to the pretty, modern vineyard where we got a lot of different wines to taste, with quite hearty snacks (sufficient for lunch). Our 16 year old daughter was also served the wine. A quick stop to buy some souvenir pistachio honey etc and we were back in central Catania by 5pm.

Friendly guid with lots of info - It was a really nice tour with a lot of information and the guide was really nice about keeping track of everyone and their stuff… including the water bottle I left at the top of a crater which he went to get together with my friend. Thank you for the lovely day!

Amazing! - I recommend this to everyone who's visiting Catania, the tour was awesome, the guide helpful and patient with everyone. We got to learn about the mount Etna and the history of it and also as a bonus, a nice Sicilian lunch! Totally worth!

A very interesting and enjoyable tour. - Our guide Marilena was fantastic, very knowledgeable and patiently answered all our questions. We enjoyed the tour of the Silvestri craters and a lava cave, it was fascinating. Everyone else in our group was lovely. We had a nice lunch and were dropped off back to our hotel in good time. I recommend this tour, it was excellent!
