Beautiful, informative, welcoming, delicious - This was a surprise highlight of our trip to Peru. We didn't really know what to expect, especially since we visited during the rainy season. David, who coordinated and led our tour, warned us that the coffee cherries would not be ready to harvest but my wife and I both enjoy coffee so we figured we'd still go even if it was just to try some local coffee. The tour turned out to be so much more than that though. David and the Perez family were welcoming and knowledgeable. They fed us and walked us through both traditional and modern ways of harvesting and preparing coffee. They talked about the history of the region and the farm and served us different varieties and preparations of coffee helping us understand the differences in flavor and profile the different beans and approaches offered. The round trip out to the farm is long but we slept on the way there and took it easy, stopping to take pictures of the gorgeous landscape on the way back. David also gave us recommendations for the rest of our time in Cusco that shaped the remainder of our trip. This was a unique and wonderful experience that I highly recommend to anyone visiting Cusco.

One of the most memorable, meaningful experiences we had in Peru - This was one of our favourite days during our two week trip to Peru last month. Getting to spend time with a traditional Peruvian farming family in the rainforest and make coffee with them was so good! The family were lovely people and very kind and their granddaughter was the sweetest little girl. Omar was an excellent guide, his English was great (which helped a lot) and his close connection/interests with the family and the farm was very evident. It felt really good to spend time with them all and learn about the local, Peruvian ways of living and farming. Easily one of favourite days and we would 100% recommend this tour for anyone wanting to meet and connect with local people, whilst also getting hands on with coffee and farming etc.

Had to cancel tour but David Mora provided amazing service. - I contacted David Mora to figure out activities while i and my family visited Peru. I sent David an email and immediately received response that David was out of the office leading a tour and would get back to me when he returned. He responded that very evening and his English was great. His response was thorough and he put together a tentative itinerary of activities for the family, regardless of whether we would use Coclatours. He provided train schedules and ticketing information. We eventually settled on a date for the cocoa farm tour. I ended up having to change the date of the tour. David was nice as could be in rescheduling our tour. Then I came down with a bad flu while in Peru, which I spread to the rest of the family, and had to cancel the cocoa tour altogether. Again, David was incredibly understanding and even wanted to drive to our hotel to return our $100 down payment! David had helped so much in planning our entire time in Peru that I had him keep the down payment. He earned it! I have friends traveling to Peru and will definitely recommend the tour with David Mora!

Feedback on the Cocoa and Coffee tours - I had a wonderful experience during these excursions in the wild farms of La Convencion. This was truly an exceptional and memorable trip, every family has a story to tell. For example, I got the opportunity to get to know some of the dark and unspoken history of Peru during the slavery period ending in 1967 and the revolution, all this told by Hilario Perez who was a young slave at the time (he is now featured in a book which he will show you with pride). I also learned and experienced how certain fruits grow, how my coffee and chocolate are made; btw I am never buying Nescafe again! This is what differences this type of experience with all the other traditional tours you can find in Peru. You won't get the opportunity to meet and share a day with a local farming family, and when you speak to them you don't have the feeling that they are spitting a script at you like most of the other excursions I went to this month. So I would like to thank David the head of this organization and guide that made those trips possible, I would also like to thank all the farmers: Hilario, Hubert, José, Julia, Hebert and Carlos who had the patience and joy to share their knowledge. I totally recommend this experience !!
