Barú is a thriving tourism hub with most beaches under private ownership except for Playa Blanca, the sole public one. As you navigate the island from North to South, you’ll witness picturesque scenes that include the Rosario Islands archipelago. We will then proceed along a dirt road to reach Barú, a quaint, charming town situated at the island’s edge, surrounded by mangroves. This is a town formed through the fusion of enslaved black folk’s traditions and the indigenous population, shaping Barú’s over 300 years of history. Here, you will partake in a blend of ecotourism, history, architecture, gastronomy, art, and culture. You can also enjoy a peaceful beach swim and the relaxing sounds of bird song.
Despite being a single location, Barú offers diverse experiences. One glance at your camera roll will make it look like you visited multiple places; such is the beauty of our precious Barú island.
