First time divers -Awesome experience! - Great experience! This was our first time diving and the instructors did an amazing job teaching us all of the specifics.

If you want to dive certified or not, go with Buzos de Baru! - I (uncertified diver) went on this with my two friends (advanced open water/nitrox certied) and we all had such an amazing day!! They made it so ridiculously easy to book a dive with an unexperienced diver and experienced divers on the same boat. We did two dives, one at two ship wrecks and one at a reef. There were about 14 of us on the boat, and I was the only one who had never dived, so my day looked a little different than everyone elses. For start, my guide made me feel completely at ease even though I was terrified at first. He was so calm, accommodating, and a great teacher who made me feel so comfortable I was down at 12 meters swimming around the ship within 15 minutes of getting in the water! The pictures and videos he took of me are so high quality and captured how fun and beautiful diving is. He pointed out everything I should look at. My friends who were experienced also had an amazing day, and they loved their divemaster. He had all the info at the end of the day for logging their dive. My divemaster also provided excellent recommendations for where to go to lunch afterwards. 10/10 experience, and if I ever have an opportunity to dive again in Cartagena, I will do with Buzos de Baru! I unfortunately don't remember the names of our divemasters, but we went on Sat morning, April 15 2023!

Great place to try scuba diving for the first time! - This was my first time ever scuba diving and I am happy I ended up doing it here. Juan always responded quickly to my queries leading up to the activity, which I appreciated greatly. There is a short online theory to complete before the dives but don't worry it is very easy to understand. The instructor will also cover the basics before you do the dive. On the day of the dives my instructor was Albero and he was a perfect instructor for beginners. He had a calm demeanor which helped put me at ease. I was nervous since it was my first time and having Albero's calm presence helped keep my nerves in check. He checked in frequently during the dives to be sure I was fine. I felt like I was well taken care of by him. He also spoke very good English so I never had to worry about a miscommunication or language barrier. I was very satisfied with the experience. They are very professional here and if you are completely new to diving like I was it's a good place to try it.

Incredible adventure experience!! - It was amazing from beginning to the end, I visited their office inside a nice hotel in Cartagena. The team was kind providing the information, I have requested and after providing my phone number. The booking, payment, short class, free pictures and video (after dive tour) were virtual. On the scuba day, the meeting point was on a local harbor with easy access, a representative welcomed me then a fast boat arrived with the instructors. We left to Baru island for an incredible adventure, the dive masters inform us on what was the program. They were very knowledgeable and patient. They offered personalize service they were focus on the safety of the group. I was a bit nervous after 20 years of not diving and my breathing pace was not helping. I had great time and I am definitely coming back for more. I would recommend it to anyone!

Great vacation dive! - Very friendly and knowledgeable crew, spoke English and Spanish. Guides provide great support for new divers while allowing experienced divers to do their thing. Excellent visibility, live coral, lots of fish and sea life.

An experience of a lifetime - I am still in awe of what I saw and the fact that I did this! Juan was extremely flexible with me when there was a misunderstanding regarding my cell phone number and Diego was an excellent teacher and guide. If you're on the fence, just do it! This will for sure be the highlight of my time in Cartagena. Tip: if you get a Colombian sim card while here, make sure to change your number on your account as this is how they contact you. If you don't hear from them by a couple days before, reach out to them.

Great experience - It was a great experience. Alvaro was an excellent instructor who made us feel very comfortable in the water. I had some issues equalizing pressures and he was very calm and made sure I was ok before proceeding. He was also very attentive to finding interesting things for us to see:

The best equipped and trained diving operation in Cartagena - I have dived in Texas, Jamaica and off the coast of West Africa. This was the most interesting and satisfying dive I have done. We saw a variety of bright tropical fish, sunken boats, a sole fish hidden under the sand, a poisonous lion fish, several sunken ships and a statue garden. I believe that Buzos de Baru is the best diving operation in Cartagena. Jose, the owner has been diving since he was a teenager and is very well qualified. The wall of ​his office in the Hotel Caribe is covered in diving certifications and our dive instructor Alvaro was also excellent - casual, instructive and fun, but careful. He spoke good English as well. Naturally, all of the local diving operations dive in similar locations - we saw actually two other groups under water - so I chose Buzos because they seemed the most trustworthy. The gear was good quality (for example the BCD had integrated, easy-release weights, proper regulator cleaning procedures during covid). The boat was well-maintained. Alvaro took excellent pictures with a very nice underwater camera. I loved the dives, it was my favorite part of my trip. A few comments for future customers. There are not so many options as shown here. Basically you can take the class or do a two dive package or rent the whole boat. I have my cert so I did two dives. They do not ask to see your cert, but if you don't have the training, you're risking your health/safety to do the dive. For my return trip from the dock, I didn't want to hail a passing taxi for security reasons and I was not able to find the bus stop so I ended up walking further than I had planned. Also expect that you'll get the dive pictures from a link sent by email, but this may take several days after the trip, depending on how busy they are.
