The Barú Peninsula (sometimes called Isla de Barú or simply Barú), is separated from the territory by the Canal del Dique. Until 2014 the only way to cross it was by raft, or its variants. It was in that year when the so-called “Baru Bridge” was inaugurated. (Barú is an artificial island that was formed almost 100 years ago by the construction of the Canal del Dique. The three towns on the island are Ararca, Santa Ana and Barú).
  • Playa Blanca - Playa Blanca Famous for its white beaches and turquoise waters. It is the only public beach in the Corales del Rosario National Natural Park. Once in Baru, we will walk about 5 minutes until we reach the CLUB MAMBO BEACH next to the beach, where you can spend time in a lounger or sun chair, you can explore the beautiful crystal clear waters. La Playa Blanca - The experience itself was enjoyable. Ee arrived at a perfect time. If you would like a full beach experience to include drinks, alcohol, water activities and massages bring a lot of money. Everything is more expensive on the beach. The experience would have been better without a ton a vendors harassing you every two minutes to buy things. Literally it was hard to relax with people begging to sell you things or sell experiences. I understand because it is how they make a living; however, they make visitors feel uncomfortable when they don’t take no for an answer. They are relentless! Other than that, Valentina was a great host. Very knowledgeable, kind, and energetic.

Beautiful Beach, Great Food, & Amazing Nature - PROS: - GUIDE: 8.5/10 A guide that speaks great English and is attentive that the English speakers of the tour get the same information that he explained in Spanish (Gabriel is great). - BEACH CLUB: 10/10 Amazing beach club the people were super attentive, respectful, and not overly pushy (aka trying to sell drinks) - we opted for the bed option as it was the closest to the beach and it was comfortable and had some shade (which is very important since tbh I’m not a huge fan of the sun) - FOOD: 9/10 The food was amazing, my mom and boyfriend had the complimentary fish that came with the tour and they mentioned how is tasted great, I opted for something off the complimentary menu but was only like $6 more (chicken in mushroom sauce) and it was so tasty! - NATIONAL AVIARY: 11/10 Out of our group we were the only ones that did the aviary tour and I was so stunned because easily this was the best part of an already amazing trip. We had nearly the whole park just to ourselves and the wildlife there was beyond spectacular. The colors, the fact that they were so close! We even saw a peacock perform its little mating dance!!!! Ugh and the flamenco’s you’re practically a part of the flamenco group — and at the end the show was so amazing. I would go here again and again - such a spectacular experience of Colombia bio-diversity. Cons: (will note that most of these are in no fault of the company- it’s just nature and things outside of the companies control) - the walk from the parking lot to the beach club was more like 7-10 mins (likely because we were walking slow) - it’s a nice walk if you walk the side of the beach but… - under a 12pm sun … it’s dreadful. Which is my second con - sun was insanely hot. Bring a fan, def a must. - when we were in the beach bed we were constantly being asked by beach sellers if we wanted to buy something. Admittedly once we told them no a second time (or sometimes even one time) they would go away. I understand they make a living out of this so not a huge complain plus the people coming up to us were super respectful but also would be nicer if no one came up to us. - lastly, kinda wish this lasted more until 3pm. Felt like 2pm was a little too early given we got to the beach club at like 8:30am OVERALL: 9/10 - highly recommend!

Not the best experience - There was no clean water and the place was dirty. The people were nice though and the food was ok. However, I do not believe I will repeat it if I could.

A nice beach day - The beach itself was beautiful! Be aware the drive from Cartagena is a VERY bumpy one. My husband is not prone to motion sickness but definitely felt it on this trip. Our lunch was delicious and the staff was attentive without being pushy. There are approximately 10 of the free lounge chairs available, otherwise they have plenty of beds available for rental. Just a note: There is not running water at the Mambo beach club for hand washing but they are able to poor buckets of ocean water in to flush toilets.

Food and view was great, but the facility needs work - I would give this tour a 3/5. The positives: -we were able to book the tour the day before. One of the guides told us there was a marathon planned so we would have to either cancel or move the time to 9am, which was great for us because I didn’t want to leave at 6am. And I appreciated the communication -We were picked up right on time, and our guide Valentina was a pleasure the entire day. -The water was beautiful and the beach club was really nice. The grilled chicken dish was awesome and so was the piña colada. -we rented a Balinese bed right up front so we had an amazing view. The server, Jose, was great. On to the negatives: -The bus ride to the beach took us 2 hrs. The bus was hot and uncomfortable. -The walk down was pretty rocky so if you have mobility challenges, you would find it difficult. -the beach club had no music, so the vibe wasn’t all the way there. -the toilets wouldn’t flush, but you had to pour a bucket of water into the toilet to go down. That was fine, but no one told us and it had gotten pretty full. -someone ran a hose from the ocean to the back of the club. It ruptured and sprayed all over me and my lunch! No compensation was offered -When we arrived they told us the bed would be $50.000 cop. I heard it and so did my friend. But they charged us $120.000, which was the price on the menu, but not the price offered to us when we arrived. -the constant vendors from the beach wanting us to buy something was irritating. The club allowed them to come into the private area to try to sell us something. The ladies offering massages wouldn’t take “no” for an answer. One lady rubbed lotion on my back after I firmly said “no gracias” and she wouldn’t stop until I left the bed that I rented. I wouldn’t return to this particular beach club.

Beach is nice, but... - The beach itself is amazing, but the mambo beach has no good infrastructure...the baths had no water! Also local people try to sell everything all the time, they are restless...to the point you cant even enjoy yout day. Even in the sea they will enter in the water and try to sell something....this can be a bit stressfull
