It was in that year when the so-called Barú Bridge was inaugurated. (Barú is an artificial island that was formed almost 100 years ago by the construction of the Canal del Dique. chill trip, great sunset - The trip was quite chill. Playa Blanca is gorgeous and it got less crowded later in the afternoon so you can relax a bit before going off to see the sunset. It was full moon the day I went so the plankton was slightly faint. But you do get a magical experience of seeing the water illuminate as you move your body in it. Just adjust your expectations accordingly!

A magical experience - This trip was magical. From the sunset in the beach to the food and the plankton. I can’t say how much of an amazing time I had. I was alone so my guide Juan Luis made sure to keep me comfortable and safe. Even during the plankton experience. I’m not a strong swimmer and he made sure I felt comfortable in the water. The vendors trying to sell you things can be kind of annoying. But you can’t get mad at people trying to make a living.

Fantastic experience - I booked this experience on my trip through Colombia, it totally met my expectations, the plakton at night was phenomenal, many thanks to my guide Sergio who was present during the tour.

Nice but… - The organization of this tour is not great. Already, it took us a while to find the agency to pay for the tour (no effective communication to avoid making us go around in circles). Then, at the pick-up point, we had to write again to the organizer because there was no one there. There too it was complicated. Nice beach, good time there. Once the sun set, we were left a little abandoned until someone told us that we were going to swim with the plankton. We were crammed into a boat, the weight was poorly distributed and it was rocking dangerously. The tourists then freely jumped into the water without worrying about their environment (no management done by the guides). I believe that the organizers are also there to supervise the tourists and maintain everyone's safety. The experience itself was good but it was too much of a mess for me to recommend.

Avoid this tour or expect disappointment - The experience (sunset plankton) was a disaster from the start. 0/ 5. We cannot recommend it to anyone: a 45-minute late pick-up, a transport with 11 adults for two hours was very uncomfortable (we arrived a few minutes before 6 on the beach; we spent 3 hours from the late pick-up; there was no time to enjoy the beach which was filthy, with garbage everywhere including the club where they took us, very bad food in the club that made me sick (I had to take ciproflaxin, an antibiotic), a prostitute working in the "club" who insisted on giving us a massage, even starting on my partner's shoulders after we firmly told her no, an overloaded boat with 24 tourists plus the guide was uncomfortable and dangerous (15 minutes to see the plankton) and in the end, we had to wait for the transport buses with hundreds of other tourists. The guide did not explain anything and left early before assuring that the tourists who came with him had transportation. We arrived in Cartagena at 10:00 p.m. although the tour indicated a return at 8:30 p.m., 90 minutes late. The excursion really did not comply with what was described in it. We feel disappointed and we asked to be reimbursed for the cost of it. We got an apology and nothing more. Meanwhile I'll spend the next few days on antibiotics and always only a few steps away from the nearest restroom. Avoid this tour!
