A perfect way to meet cartagena - The entire trip is awesome, we went to different places, like de sapatos viejos, el Castillo de San Felipe, the old city of cartagena. In every place we had the opportunity to take pictures and buy souvenirs. It was amazing

Cartagena, Rum, Coke and Cerveza...oh yes, and live music! - Our Carnival tour called this "The Party Bus". We are not your typical party people any more now that we are in our early 70's, but we loved this tour. In fact, we signed up to do it again on a future trip. One of the middle rows of the bus is filled with musicians who entertain us throughout the streets of Cartagena. Each row has 'cup holders'--one for a bottle of rum, one for a bottle of coke, two for cups and one larger one for an ice bucket. The open air bus allows interaction with locals as we drove thru both the new and old city. We had two stops. The first stop was at the old fort and the second stop was at the shopping district built into the old prison area right along the fortifications of the old walled city. At the second stop, we climbed a ramp to view the ocean and the city from the top of the wall. There, all of the musicians from all of our buses joined us to music and dancing as well as a sample of some local food. Before we re-boarded our buses, we had time to shop in the old prison made shops.

GUARANTEED FUN - It was the best decision ever they take you around the whole city telling you about some of its history while you party at the same time and if you can drink they're giving out rum and coke (included with the pretty cheap package) 100% recommended

Cartagena - Beautiful city, very friendly people, too hot🫠, the bad thing is that the street vendors harass tourists too much, how dirty Barú beach is, a lot of plastic waste. As for the agency we hired, Colombia Travel, the tour we took to the ancient city was wonderful and we had the best guide (Luchy) concerned and dedicated to the group. The administrative part (Olga) is concerned with selling but not with solving any problems that may arise. We had a problem with the suspension of a tour. The return took 7 business days and was solved in almost 2 months thanks to the management of another executive who I took our case to Ms. Olga, we sent her many WhatsApp messages, at first she answered us, then she only left us in status. In general it was a good trip, the city is super safe to navigate.

Not for everybody - Really good tour in the chiva, but this mode of transportation is not for everybody. We did notice some people having a bit of difficulty climbing up the side (ladder style) of the bus. With that in mind, the tour is a fun way to see and experience the city. So, if you have any problems climbing a ladder, I would opt for a different mode of transportation.

Not as advertised, and not in English. - I booked this understanding it to be primarily a walking tour around the city, with a bus trip and visit to the fort. The collection point is a bit of a way out of the main city area to the tour companies office. On arriving there I found the staff to have limited English, which was not an issue but they seemed generally unhelpful in advising what would be happening. The pointed to a plastic chair in the sun, for me to sit and wait as I was early. A bus arrived out front so I went over and someone came out of the office saying quite abruptly that he would get me when it was time. If he had said that to start with it would have been helpful. A guide turned up and rounded up a few of us then disappeared. I advised that I was booked onto an english speaking tour. I got a raised eyebrow in response. We were taken to the end of the road to wait for what turned out to be a public bus. There was a commentary in Spanish, and the odd word in English thrown in. Then the initial guide got off the bus, with no explanation as to what was happening. We drove around got to a small market with a statue of some shoes, limited explanations given in Spanish but nothing in English and we were just left in the hot afternoon sun for around 25 minutes. The purpose being to queue and take photos of these random shoes. I reminded the guide that I could not speak spanish so therefore had no idea what was happening and that I had booked a tour in English. WE then went to the fort, and again queued in full sun to get in. It transpired that we were going to be at the fort for about an hour before going back to the city, so were clearly not going to get a walking tour of the city. The tour was indepth and the guide did then make more of an effort to include me. After an hour or so we drove back to the city, to the Cartagena sign to take photos, and then we were taken to an emerald shop, where an explanation of everything was givne in spanish. I had already said I was staying in Centro so did not need to go back to the starting location on the bus. I ended my trip in the emerald store. This was not what was advertised. It is not fair or appropriate to offer a tour in English if that is not what you are going to give. If I had wanted an indepth fort visit, that's what I would have booked. In the end I did 2 very good, "free" walking tours of different parts of the city with a different company.
