Amazing experience - We had an amazing experience today! Pop and duny worked hard to give us a once in a lifetime experience. Our trip was highlighted by catching a hammer head shark over 11 feet long! It took over an hour of of hard work to get it reeled in. My son ten year then caught a 6 foot sailfish, they were extremely patient and thorough to make it an unbelievable experience. Our 11 year then hauled in a 4ft bull shark. We then caught a variety of other fish. From the first phone call with Cartagena fishing to the handshake goodbye with the crew, every interaction was positive. Thanks for giving our family priceless memories!

Great trip with great people - This was our first time doing a private fishing tour and all I can say is WOW! Captain and his crew were absolutely phenomenal. They were extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and made sure my family had a world class experience. If you’re searching for a private fishing tour where you’ll catch plenty of fish and have fun doing it. I highly recommend. We did get sick but we were drinking the night before. Afternoon the weather picked up a bit.

Nice trip - We booked an 8 HR trip on 3/10/23 with Cartagenafishing , and it did not disappoint! They run 38ft todomars which is a beast of a boat. We got on the troll early for wahoo and my daughter ended up reeling in! (She's 11) and had several knockdowns. Later in the morning we switched up tactics and put some livebaits at different depths. Shortly after setting up, the deep rod goes off and my son had a chance to reel in a Kingfish that gave him a run for his money! (He's 10) Shortly after, my wife came tight with a blackfin tuna! With about 2 minutes remaining in the trip (literally), one the deep baits goes off and we hooked a nice sailfish! Couldn't have asked for a better day and crew. They make the experience extremely enjoyable and they are very knowledgeable. They are our "Go-to" when we are in Cartagena 2 a year.

Do not book! - Stay as far away as possible. When speaking with Jon he insured that our crew would be able to speak a bit of English, but they didn’t and that led to the main issue. The tour package said lunch was provided and there was zero communication that we would be taken to an island and have all our cash stripped from us for cooking our fish. We paid for an 8hr day of fishing and the crew only took us out on the water for 4 hrs. But they did take us to shore and make us pull out more money from the ATM then asked for an additional tip… We tried to use Google translate to break the language barrier, which we have been able to do with many of the lovely people here in Colombia but the crew was not about it. Just looked us off and once they got their money their minds were set. They left us with 4 hrs of fishing still owed.

fake reviews? Disappointing experience - I saw 4.5 stars and thought this would be a fun trip. I didn't realize John fakes his reviews. There are reviews from different usernames using the same photos. Copy & pasting the same review. Our trip was a disappointment. We caught a couple fish but didn't think John was a great Captain or fun to be around. I didn't realize he's the only fishing charter in Cartagena, but doesn't own any of his boats. He brought lousy equipment on our charter then blamed it on his 'll talk about his "team" of employees like he has a receptionist, a

Buyer beware - Before you book, read some of the negative reviews. Captain John is a crook from Florida. He lies about his spearguns, his sonar, that he’ll show up himself… John opened up shop in summer of 2018 and boosted his page by writing fake reviews. If you download the images posted, the file names are unchanged and he got them from Google images. He used similar names and many are from users with recent account who have only posted 1 review. After taking his tour, he refused any refunds, blamed us. He also used racist language and derogatory words about his wife during our trip. Again, please read the negative reviews before booking—- don’t let the 4 stars fool you! it’s not difficult for a horrible business to boost their rating artificially
