The Mud Volcano of Totumo (El Volcán de Lodo El Totumo) is a brief 45-minute car journey away from Cartagena. Ascend the quaint stairs and behold the volcanic crater filled with thick, silky volcanic mud that will be rubbed onto your skin. A seasoned guide will begin the process of applying the mud for an unusual and highly suggested experience. Upon completion of your mud bath, drift towards the nearby shoreline of a coastal inlet. Afterwards, partake in a traditional Caribbean feast and some downtime before the second half of your day’s journey: a trip across the Cartagena mangroves on a canoe. The picturesque trip commences on a cozy man-made canoe navigating through the mangrove channels under the guidance of local fishermen.
