Highly recommend - This was an incredible experience! Eusebio was a fantastic guide through the market. We would never have been able to visit there on our own. He shared his experiences and helped us select all the ingredients for the delicious meal we would make together. At the kitchen, Andris was a talented chef and teacher. Every item was absolutely delicious and it was a very memorable day.

Spring Break - Kevin is AMAZING truly Picked us up from our hotel and we took a yellow cab to the market!! Wow talk about richness in culture. The market is the real deal cultural experience. Kevin is a wiz working through knowing exactly what to get and how much. It was amazing to see him work with the local vendors. He asks for our input to enjoy that we made what we wanted After the market we were driven to the most beautiful beach house and greeted. We ate the fruit we shopped for earlier which the cooking stations were set up. After we joined Kevin and Andris and cooked The lunch was nothing less than superb. It was delicious and knowing we had a hand in it was amazing! We were sent in a cab back to the hotel! It was an amazing experience highly recommend

Do It! - The best thing we did in Cartagena. The market was interesting and our guide was very helpful even stopped to buy our bottles of beer for us so that we wouldn't pay too much. The lunch was great and have even made some of the things we helped prepare once we got back home.

A true local experience - Get a feeling for the daily lives for the majority of people in Cartagena through this tour. Food and all that is required to obtain, prepare and consume it speaks to a culture. The family who runs this tour are warm and sharing. The food was excellent. The experience fun.

Farmers market/ Cooking class - After being picked up at our hotel, we were taken to the farmers market. Its a very eye opening experience , we all learned a lot. We were guided through the market , we got to see the fresh fish, meat and produce that was brought in for the day. We picked up fresh food along the way that would become our meal later in the day. After our guide told us some history of the market, and how people shop and live in this area of Cartagena,we were off to his home to help prepare an authentic Colombian meal. We helped with the preparation of the food . The family did the actual cooking , and served us. It was very good! We had fresh fish, plantains,Zepplins , coconut rice, and beans and rice , guacamole ,salad , I know I am forgetting some of what we had, But you didn't leave hungry!!! All while looking out at the ocean. It was a great experience , and one we will always remember.

Local food experience - We were met at our airbnb in Getsameni by the tour guide who went with us in a taxi to the market for the poor of Cartagena. The market is massive, chaotic, aromatic, and astounding. It has no comparison to an American farmers market, and we were appreciative to see how the locals secure produce and meats. Then we took another taxi with the tour director to his home on the beach. Again, it was interesting to see how the local families live in a very tight-knit community. The tour leader's girlfriend prepares the meal with explanations to us and opportunities to help with chopping and some other kitchen tasks. Two young men assist with directions and clean up. The meal was a typical Colombian lunch, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The only odd thing was that this meal is in the tour leader's home, so he was present in the home but did not interact during the meal preparation. The experience would be enhanced if he were involved more throughout as it countered our expectations to have him there but lounging. After the completion of the meal, we were provided transportation in the car of a friend of the tour leader. Additional expense was incurred in tipping the boys and chef and the local driver. Overall, it was a great experience and we would recommend it.

Ok but may consider other options in the future - A rough start. Our trip’s reservation time was changed three times. Five hours later, our tour began. Due to the delay in start time, majority of the market was closed by the time we got there. It also smelled really bad throughout. Nevertheless, we were able to make some amazing fish, salad and coconut rice in a restaurant on the beach. All smiles when it was over.

Very nice folks - The Experience was lackluster - I would not recommend this cooking class, slightly feel like we were scammed & would love a refund. This experience was about 180 USD for two people which is quite expensive and also insanely expensive for the experience we received. This is for fellow travelers and also constructive criticism for the owner of the cooking class. We were picked up from our hotel without really a greeting or any explanation of who this person picking us up was or any kind of plan for the day. We then went to a very cool and authentic Colombian market (best part of the day). Kevin our guide was very lovely but very young and clearly had little experience doing tours. There was barely any conversation. He just walked us around and bought items we needed for class. My husband and I love to do cooking classes when we travel and usually in a market they explain the foods/pricing/history but this was not the case it kind of just felt like we were running someone else’s errands. The market itself was super interesting. Also it was completely muddy and we should have been told to wear closed toe shoes. I was covered in mud and my sandals ruined. When we got to the house for the class. The woman teaching the class had said she was able to speak English but she really was not fluent at all. There was again no one to guide us or give us any kind of plan. There were a lot of extra people in this home and it get completely unprofessional. There were no aprons/hair nets or real hand soap. We did not get to chose a menu of what we got to make which again is frustrating especial for the price. We ended up making ALL fried food which was so heavy and not great. We did not really get walked through step by step by step how to make the food but instead had ingredients kind of pushed to us. Worst of all we never got told we were making an appetizer and a main course because the chef made the main course without us. I was filled from my appetizers by the time she alone finished cooking the meal. Also there was no ambiance I literally had to ask some kid to turn off the TV while we cooled because it was so loud and distracting. The lead cook and Kevin were very nice, her husband also was there as was two other people her infant baby and another kid. It get like we were inconveniencing the family home. The lead cook and Kevin were very nice but I REALLY suggest they all go take a legitimate cooking class before continuing this business. It truly was so disappointing and felt like a waste of money/time and energy.

DO NOT BOOK THIS - This was the worst experience ever! Do not book. They tried to cancel 1 hour before start. Then sent rude staff that wouldn't talk, introduce themselves, or answer questions. I was terrified and asked to be returned to my hotel before it started. I was not issued a refund. This is a total scam!
