Additional Information

We provide an authentic experience of Cartagena culture beyond its historical walls, reflecting the progress of Cartagena de Indias post the Spanish crown.

Our journey starts by taking a regular local bus to the public market, where your senses will be enveloped by the diverse sights, sounds, and tastes that greet our arrival. We’ll explore a variety of local delights such as Guarapo, the refreshing neighborhood drink, Costenita, the local beer, and much more. We’ll delve deeply into the African influence seen in Cartagena’s food and music. It’s worth noting that Cartagena has its unique music genre, Champeta, lead mainly by drums and guitars, which we will undoubtedly introduce you to. Understanding the history and evolution of this striking city will endow you with a different perception of us. We’ll conclude our exploration at the same spot where Anthony Bourdain dined during his visit to our city, feasting on delectable dishes that are a part of our Caribbean cuisine.

Enriching, Colorful & Deep - I loved every part of this. Beyond The Wall CTG is an inspiring and thriving collective and has so much to offer. They created a space to learn, reflect and share on the history and present of Cartagena and its people. A beautiful vision that I was extremely happy to support. Thank you!

Fantastic tour!!! - What a fantastic cultural tour!! Jesus is passionate about his country, city, and neighborhood, and shared this personal connection with us by taking us to important areas with cultural significance, that he loves, and that we would never have seen or learned about on our own. He is funny, knowledgable, and kind! Music, art, food, we tasted them all to gain a bit more understanding of the complex history of Cartagena!! I highly recommend this tour!! Thank you, Jesus!! You are the best!!

Not reliable - The instructions for where to meet for the tour are very vague. I waited around in the vicinity of the Exito store and bus station for 25 minutes waiting for somebody with the tour to meet me, but no one showed up. I should have suspected that this tour wouldn't happen after I messaged the tour operator to clarify the meeting place and they never responded. I was very disappointed in not getting to go to Bazurto market. I got a refund within a few days. The desk clerk at my hotel told me to book locally, but I didn't have enough time left to squeeze it in on this trip.
