Additional Information

We provide an authentic insight into the culture of Cartagena beyond the city walls, taking you on a journey through its history post Spanish crown and societal development. Our tour begins with a conventional bus ride to the public market, where the senses will be overwhelmed by the sounds, sights and tastes that await us. We’ll indulge in an assortment of local delicacies such as Guarapo, a native soft drink, and Costenita, our local brew. A key part of our exploration focuses on the African influence on Cartagena’s culture, specifically through food and music. It’s worth noting that Cartagena has its own music genre, champeta, a drum and guitar-led style that has almost a religious following, and we’ll certainly introduce you to it. Understanding the history and development of this unique, stunning city will provide a new perspective of its people. To end our excursion, we’ll dine at the same spot visited by Anthony Bourdain during his time in our city, guaranteeing a hearty meal.

Eye opening tour beyond the wall - Fernando was such an amazing guide. I was lucky to be the only one on the tour, and he gave a lot of info regarding the city beyond, the history of the area, and how people live and work. I appreciate the truthfulness of how everything was presented - and I feel this was the most fulfilling way to see how people here really live in the present day. Also, the food was delicious!
