Our tour begins with a conventional bus ride to the public market, where the senses will be overwhelmed by the sounds, sights and tastes that await us. We’ll indulge in an assortment of local delicacies such as Guarapo, a native soft drink, and Costenita, our local brew. A key part of our exploration focuses on the African influence on Cartagena’s culture, specifically through food and music. It’s worth noting that Cartagena has its own music genre, champeta, a drum and guitar-led style that has almost a religious following, and we’ll certainly introduce you to it.
