A Bricktastic Adventure Begins

As a family travel writer, I’m always on the lookout for destinations that promise fun, learning, and a sprinkle of magic for the whole family. So, when I heard about the grand opening of LEGO Movie World at LEGOLAND California, I knew it was time to pack up the kids and head to Carlsbad for a day of brick-filled adventures.

Upon arrival, the excitement was palpable. The new LEGO Movie World is a vibrant, immersive land that brings the beloved LEGO Movie series to life. From the moment we stepped into Bricksburg, it felt like we had been transported into the movie itself. The attention to detail was astounding, with cleverly themed attractions like “Everything is Ramen” and the bustling streets of Bricksburg. It was clear that this expansion was a labor of love, designed to captivate guests of all ages.

The opening ceremony was a spectacle in itself, with dancers, characters from the film, and a sky full of streamers. We even got to meet the Mayor of Bricksburg and hear from Kurt Stocks, the President of LEGOLAND California. It was a grand introduction to what promised to be an unforgettable day.

Soaring Through Bricksburg

Our first stop was Emmet’s Flying Adventure Ride, and let me tell you, it was worth every minute of the wait. This ride is a sensory delight, taking you on a thrilling journey over Bricksburg on a three-story flying couch. As we soared through the air, we were treated to a symphony of sights, sounds, and even smells! The candy scent as we flew over Bricksburg was a hit with the kids, and the pine scent in the forest was a refreshing surprise.

Next, we hopped on Queen Watevra’s Carousel, a modern twist on a classic ride. The kids loved choosing between traditional horses and stationary seats, and the vibrant colors and upbeat music made it a hit for the whole family. We also spent some time at the Build Watevra You Wa’Na Build zone, where creativity knows no bounds. Watching the kids let their imaginations run wild with LEGO bricks was a joy to behold.

Unikitty’s Disco Drop was another highlight, offering a gentle yet exhilarating drop ride experience. It’s perfect for younger guests and those who prefer a less intense thrill. Benny’s Playship ride was a fun addition, but the real star was Emmet’s Super Suite. Meeting Emmet and exploring his apartment was a dream come true for the kids, and it added a personal touch to our visit.

Exploring Beyond the Bricks

While LEGO Movie World was a highlight, we couldn’t resist exploring the rest of LEGOLAND California. The park is a treasure trove of attractions, from the intricate LEGO recreations of famous landmarks to the splash-tastic fun of the LEGOLAND Water Park. We even managed to squeeze in a visit to the SEA LIFE Aquarium, where the kids were fascinated by the colorful marine life.

Unfortunately, time flew by, and we had to head home sooner than we would have liked. But the memories we made at LEGOLAND California will last a lifetime. With its combination of thrilling rides, creative play areas, and immersive experiences, it’s a must-visit destination for families. Whether you’re a LEGO enthusiast or just looking for a fun day out, LEGOLAND California has something for everyone.
