Additional Information

False Bay is a mere 30min drive from Cape Town international airport and a shark hotspot. This fun and educational trip is for the whole family, with no age restrictions and no experience needed. We generally target three species of shark on these excursions namely Great white sharks, Bronze whaler sharks, and the prehistoric Sevengill shark. These sharks are awesome! Nothing compares to seeing a shark in real life for the first time and all preconceived ideas are crushed with the first viewing.

AMAZING!!!! - This was probably the best “tourist-y” excursion I have ever been on. The crew was so outgoing, friendly, and accommodating. I can’t say enough great things about them!!! I highly recommend this to anyone considering. We saw so much incredible marine life in just a few hours. I felt so lucky to be on that boat!!! You can tell that this company and the people who work there genuinely know these waters and the animals. It was so cool to see. The storefront also has some great educational posters about conservation efforts and shark research in Cape Town. All around a fantastic experience😄😄

Amazing experience - We never really thought about going to South Africa. At least not until we were in the Azores and met Martijn and Mona. For us, it is really difficult to find good diving guides arounf the world, but Martijn is really a professionist. So we booked this trip and this is one of the best thing we did. We really enjoyed the time we spent in Simonstown. The staff of Shark Explores is really nice, kind, friendly and professional. They did everything they can to grant you amazing experience both under and outside the water. The boats are really confortable. We highly recommend them both to divers and non divers.

Sharks, sharks and again sharks!! - It was one of my dreams to come to South Africa to discover new shark species and the experience was nothing short of wonderful!!! Beyond my expectations with excellent company and such knowledgeable and friendly staff. We saw everything from Makos to pyjama sharks to the seven gill opening shark; and what about baby leopard sharks and sea lions? Highly recommended both the dive centre and what this place has to offer.

Sharks in the wild! - Amazing experience. Just hands down awesome. Ok, no Great Whites, but we got nonstop shark action, and intrepid seals, too! Cap. Nina and her crew are experienced, confident, knowledgable and so friendly and enthusiastic. They really know and care about the marine life in False Bay and are eager to share their knowledge. As a bonus, Simonstown is adorable with fun places to eat and shop. Do it!

Incredible dives like family - We had 9 days of diving and the Shark Explorers family was incredibly cool and sensitive to organize our trip so well! As experienced divers we were very happy and satisfied by all the species and different dives we had: kelp forest, sandy dives, offshore With a blue shark, all of shy sharks and crazy underwater life. Boats really cool with few people and nice beverages and lunch , helping you to put your staff on… in love with shark explorers family 🥰

Tastes like more - These explorers are THE BEST! We were lucky to go with a very small group and saw many many bronze whalers as well as seals and dollies. We were well taken care off and the vibe was just extremely relaxed on the boat. Enjoyed it so much, will definitely return, the free diving into the kelp forest is now my #1 bucket list item.

5 star cage diving experience - From the get-go the team was super nice and friendly, they took time to speak with all participants and answered all questions we had. Once on the boat we were greeted by our all-star captain Nina who was an absolute gem. The ride out to seal island was great and not too bumpy. Water and juice were provided to all, as well as some stellar sandwiches. As for the actual cage diving, the team was excellent in talking everyone through the process so that we could get in the water safely and securely. The communication from the team on to let us know when sharks were approaching was top-notch and we had some incredible close up encounters with soem beautiful bronze whaler sharks. It was a thrill to get to see these large and imposing fish 2 feet way from your face and staring you in the eye. After the cage dive we had Extra time left and our gracious captain offered to take us for a spin around seal island on our way back. All in all a great experience that I would highly recommend.
