The journey then takes you to Langa, Cape Town’s oldest township. This is not just a tour—it’s a personal experience for the guides, many of whom are part of this community. During a guided walk, you’ll explore a local kindergarten, community upliftment projects, traditional healers, small businesses, and other lively aspects of township life.
Following the township exploration, the tour proceeds to the Nelson Mandela Gateway at the V&A Waterfront, where you’ll catch the ferry to Robben Island. Once there, a former political prisoner or knowledgeable guide will lead a tour of the island, including a walk through the prison and a visit to the cell where Nelson Mandela spent 18 of his 27 years in imprisonment.
