- Pahari African Restaurant - Join us in a cooking experience to learn how to cook a traditional African cuisine meal from start to finish.\n\nThe host will also give you an explanation of the history of African cuisine, it’s ingredients and how the recipes have evolved over time and passed down the generations.\n\nYou will be welcomed with a variety of African drinks choices and tasty African starter snacks.\n\nOn the day you will learn how to make Sadza (mealie pap), meaty beef bones mixed with green vegetables, chicken stew, green vegetables with peanut butter, chakalaka and sugar beans. We also have vegan and vegetarian options. These are the best selling dishes at Pahari African Restaurant, loved by many.\n\nEach person will have an opportunity to contribute. We will then go on to enjoying the meal together, communally, as it is typically done in an African home.\nThe experience will conclude with an African hot beverage (tea or coffee).

Absolutely worth value for money and delicious food! - We were warmly welcomed into Pahari's Cooking Class by Florence and Caleb - a husband and wife team who are the absolute bedrocks of this experience! Both are very knowledgeable, good structure from history of what is known currently about the origins of Southern African food to tasting snacks and family style eating. Florence, Caleb and their staff were very warm and welcoming. This was the BEST part of our trip to CPT. Food was delicious and I would highly recommend the cooking class and if you don't have time for a cooking class, dropping by to eat here for some authentic home-cooked African food!!

Delicious! - My partner and I had the pleasure of joining the cooking class with Florence & Caleb last week. Florence, Caleb and the team were all super welcoming and friendly. We learnt so much about African food and ingredients and enjoyed tasting all the starters. We also loved helping to make the delicious beef, chicken, vegetable dishes, along with the pap. The spread we made was incredible and was the best food I had on my trip to SA – I would highly recommend! We also really enjoyed our time chatting with, and sharing lunch with Florence and Caleb who were wonderful company. I would highly recommend this class – a really fun and super delicious experience!

Great experience and sampling of authentic African cuisine - Fantastic and entertaining evening with Florence and her husband and staff. After an introduction to the origins of the meal and some adventurous premeal snacking, we divided up and did the finishing prep on a number of dishes. All of the hard work of slicing and dicing and precooking were taken care of by the friendly staff so this is not challenge cooking. Best part was sitting down and enjoying the meal. Highly recommend booking the experience.

Incredible Experience!! - This was one of the most authentic and best experiences we had in South Africa! The wife and husband team that owns and leads this experience- Florence and George are incredibly kind, talented and knowledgeable about African cuisine, blending traditional food and customs with todays South African norms. Cooking with them felt like an invite into their home and heritage. The food was delicious(!) and the experience was fun, organized, clean and thoughtful. Just enough cooking to learn without the minuta of all the prep work. If you’re looking to have a great time, learn and try new things- including meat and/or vegetarian options- this is a must! Florence and George even joined us for dinner at the end, showing us how to properly eat the meal like a true South African while sharing more about themselves. They created a family dinner feel and treated us like their guests. Incredible!!
