Embracing the Overcast Charm of Cannes
Cannes, a city renowned for its glamorous film festival, offers a different kind of allure when the skies turn grey. The overcast weather, with its cool temperatures and occasional rain, provides the perfect backdrop for exploring the city’s indoor delights. As the clouds gather, the city takes on a cozy charm, inviting visitors to delve into its rich history and culture.
Start your weekend with a Painting Class at 8:00 AM. This two-hour session, led by professional artists, offers a unique opportunity to create your own masterpiece. The studio, nestled in the heart of the French Riviera, provides all the necessary materials, including brushes, paints, and canvases. As you paint, enjoy a glass of wine or a cup of tea, and let the creative atmosphere inspire you. This class is perfect for beginners and experienced artists alike, offering a fun and educational experience.
Excellent experience! - We had a wonderful time painting. Educational and fun. Plus you leave with a souvenir you created as a reminder.
A Journey Through Time: Cannes, Antibes, and Grasse
On the second day, embark on a Day Tour that takes you through the picturesque towns of Cannes, Antibes, and Grasse. This excursion, available from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, offers a glimpse into the region’s rich history and stunning landscapes. Begin your journey in Antibes, a city founded in Roman times, known for its traditional fishing port and the famous “billionaire quay.” Stroll through the narrow streets of the old town and explore the Provencal covered market.
Continue to Cannes, where you’ll have the chance to visit the Palais des Festivals et des Congres. Take a picture on the red carpet and soak in the glamour of the film festival. The tour then takes you to Grasse, the world capital of the flower and perfume industry. Here, you can enjoy a free tour of the Fragonard factory, guided by an experienced expert.
Unforgettably beautiful day in Provence! - We had a wonderful time in this tour. Philippe, our tour guide, was punctual, very organized and knowledgeable as well as attentive, courteous and respectful. The places we visited were amazing, including Antibes, Gourdon, Tourrettes and St Paul de Vence.
Medieval Villages and Scenic Views
The tour continues to the medieval village of Gourdon, perched at an impressive altitude of 720 meters. The breathtaking views of the Riviera coastline are a sight to behold. Visit the little castle and explore the glassblower artists’ shops. The charm of the narrow streets and the stunning landscapes make this a memorable stop.
Next, visit Tourrettes-sur-Loup, known as the city of violets. This medieval village, with its labyrinthine streets, offers a unique charm. Don’t miss the chance to taste the famous violet ice cream. The final stop is Saint-Paul de Vence, the most visited village of the Côte d’Azur. In the Middle Ages, this village was a hub for impressionist painters and sculptors, including Chagal, Monet, Picasso, and Matisse.
Great way to see lots of different towns in a day - Philippe the guide came to pick us up at the hotel at the scheduled time. Off we went with a nice air-conditioned car to our destinations, the next more beautiful than the last. Philippe gave us tips as to what to do or see, and gave us time from 30 to 60 mins to wander around at each town.
As the weekend draws to a close, you’ll leave with a deeper appreciation for the history and culture of Cannes and its surrounding towns. The overcast weather, far from being a hindrance, adds a layer of coziness and charm to your exploration, making it a weekend to remember.
