Informational, accessible, and joyful - worth the booking! - This was such a lovely tour! Our group included people both very familiar with Canberra and new to Canberra, all of whom learned new things about the LGBTQIA+ history of the city. Our tour guide Zev was knowledgeable and funny, and ensured the tour was accessible and welcoming to people of all backgrounds, knowledge, and abilities. It was exciting to hear how the tour is evolving with even more information from historical archives - clearly worth another go in future! Thank you to Zev and She Shapes History for a great experience.

Queer tour review ❤️ - Such a friendly and fun group on the tour and Zev was such an amazing tour guide. I learnt so much and I feel like there’s a lot more to learn. Thanks so much for creating such an inclusive tour that allows gender diverse as well as cis people to learn more about LGBTQI+ community and what it was like back then and how far we came today. Be out and be proud !! Thanks She Shapes History. I’ll def recommend to my friends and family.

Hidden History Comes Alive - A lot of Canberra history is 'big', public moments in big, public places. This tour dealt with events at a much more intimate, human scale and events that were often (but not always) hidden from public view. The lack of such big backdrops requires a skilled storyteller, and with Zev we had that and much more. They brought a passion and connection to the subject. Not everyone can breathe life into a window, a park, a tennis court or the site of a building long gone. Zev was able to do just this. While this is a must do for anyone interested in queer history, it is just as fascinating for people who want to know about the parts of history that are less well known but every bit as interesting.

More history you haven't heard before - My fourth She Shapes History tour, but my first one learning about the LGBTQIA+ History of Canberra. Zev is an excellent guide - informative, entertaining and inclusive. Their knowledge of the knowledge of Canberra's LGBTQIA+ history, paired with personal insights and anecdotes, made for an enjoyable and interesting couple of hours. Thanks Zev and the She Shapes History team 🏳‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️
